After falling hard during the vault final and settling for sliver, McKayla Maroney reminded us that she puts the 'fierce' in the "Fierce Five" and busted out an unimpressed smirk on the podium.

McKayla Maroney is definitely not impressed by the Sistine Chapel.

McKayla Maroney is not impressed with Alex Morgan's winning header against Canada.

McKayla Maroney is not impressed with McKayla Maroney's vaulting skills.

"Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'm going to let you finish but McKayla Maroney had one of the best vaults of all time."

McKayla Maroney and Queen Elizabeth II are equally not impressed with the Opening Ceremony.

These girls just impress me to no end.

They are cute as buttons and dainty, ... and yet nasty and fierce competitors.

Aly has been my favorite since the first night, with McKayla a close second, but I have enjoyed watching all of them.

If my daughter was winning a Gold medal in gymnastics you would be seeing my picture on the internet and reading what a moron I was in the crowd.

:laugh2:

There is nobody else. There is only McKayla

Love her!

some wusses are whining about that; I say take a hike! I love the fact she was ticked off with herself; she knew if she has stayed on her feet she would have won the gold. Any real competitor would have felt the same.

...the right to express her emotions. We don't know the mountains she has had to climb to get to the Olympics.

She's probably a very nice person, but being in competition at the Olympics is a very heated situation and allowances should be made for that.

I will reserve my judgement of her until I have put in the time and effort she has to be world class at something. When you work that hard and want something that bad, of coarse you are going to mad. I think she handled herself with class.

Why would she be impressed? She knows she gave away the gold. Hell she fell down on her second vault and still almost won the gold.

Not impressed with Magic Mike.

Not impressed with Mars Curiosity landing.

Glad to see she's not happy with how she finished. Any competitor would be if they don't finish first. I see nothing wrong with her reaction to this.

I can get with that. It has to be one of the toughest things to face and it isn't as if you can turn around and make amends to it in a reasonable time frame. You have to wait 4 years to possibly get another chance.

I can also see why she is criticized. At a glance it doesn't appear that she is portraying the Olympic spirit, which isn't only about abilities. It is also about sportsmanship. There is also nothing wrong with showing a little class or respect for the other competitors. They claim it is her reaction to not winning, but the medal ceremony doesn't occur directly after the results are announced. She had time to react to not winning gold and then calm herself down and present herself in a more dignified manner at the podium.

I don't think this is the worst thing in the world for an athlete to do, but she could have handled it better.
