It used to be this way, but I think coaches were complaining that since their teams were still playing, they were at a disadvantage because other coaches had head starts

No interviews should be allowed during the playoffs whether you are in or not. That would make it an even playing field without affecting the playoff teams.

I get the you need a coaching staff before free agency piece so realize this would be somewhat difficult to enact though.

This is an issue the NFL and NFLPA need to resolve and not the coaches.

I guess it's a catch 22, as it could put some coaches at a disadvantage having to wait when others are free to interview. I guess if they installed a rule where coaching hires or interviews couldn't occur before x days after the Super Bowl it would provide ample time for interviews to still take place. The 49ers defensive coordinator is interviewing with multiple teams this week too so both teams are dealing with it.

NFL needs to put a moratorium on interviews and hiring during the playoffs. This is ridiculous.

It will be a phone or video interview. And probably a preliminary one at that. It won’t take a lot of time.
DQ is a professional and he will put the team, practice and game plan as top priority. The interview will be when there is team downtime.
It is not like he will be taking the entire day to fly there and back.

Yea, nothing to get in a twist about. Quinn knows what is in front of him. He is the last person I am worried about preparation with.

Yeah it sucks, but you can’t put blame on Quinn. If he wants to be a head coach again declining/delaying the interview would be a bad move and hurt his chances. The NFL needs to make rules to level the playing field for all coaches to get an equal opportunity while not hurting their current team. Advancing in the playoffs shouldn’t be a detriment to anyone trying to get a job.

agreed but impossible to enforce. I mean who monitors all calls. You pick up the phone and call a guy fired after the season, who will know.

Dan Quinn is an intelligent fellow. I believe it’s possible he can walk and chew gum at the same time…plus he has a good staff that can get these guys prepared…
