Thank you to all those that have served our great country! I was curious how everyone celebrates or remembers Memorial Day. In my little town of Shawnee KS, we line the main streets with flags. It is always very moving to me. I think I will take some more pictures this year to share.

The bottom picture is from Joplin, MO. It was a year ago today Joplin was destroyed by an F5. The national guard was invaluable at that time.

Hmm...the bottom two pics did not show up. Maybe a mod can fix it. I am not sure what I did wrong.

In DC we have a little celebration with upwards of half a million motorcyclists called Rolling Thunder :)

Very nice. Sound like a lot of fun. I was in DC in 1976 for the 4th and it was crazy, or so it appeared to a 6 year old kid anyway.

You are going to need a lot of ammo. Be prepared for a visit from the secret service.

I know you are being facetious but isn't that what is great about America, that you have the right to question your govt? Hell your country was founded by people who thought they were getting crapped on by a King so they had a revolution.

Gigantic difference between bashing America and questioning the government.

Attend ceremonies.

Good man. When I lived in NJ I used to go with my dad every Memorial day to West Point. One grandfather is buried in Normandy and the other at West Point. For anyone in the tri-state area, Memorial day is an incredible day to visit the Academy.

I really miss that part of the country. Bear Mountain was always a great trip also.

Just over the border of norther NJ there was a Japanese restaurant on top of a mountain that at night you could see all the way to new York City. Mt. Fuji I think it was called. It used to be a resort in the 40's and 50's that catered to people of a certain persuasion that valued privacy. Anyway you are right, that is a beautiful part of the country. Nothing like it here in Kansas.

Yes it is. My vacation in NY I took the time to drive up to West Point and take the tour. Really enjoyed the drive and the history of West Point was inspiring

My wife and I were just reminiscing about Mt Fuji last night. We went there about 10 years ago, what a great place.

Parade in the morning (which I may or may not attend) and then it's all about lacrosse in the afternoon.
