Overview
Big cornerback with the size and play strength to help match up with bigger receivers in the league. Stevenson is patient but physical in press-man and has good recovery speed when he falls behind. He struggles as a pattern matcher in off-man and had issues with busts in zone, so he might be scheme-dependent. Stevenson is talented when attacking the catch point and has the ball skills to make plays on 50/50 throws. He needs to become more consistent in run support but has the physical attributes to become a starter in a press-man scheme.

Sources Tell Us
“You look at how big he is and think he might be a safety, but he’s a big press cornerback with the size to push receivers around if his technique is right.” -- Area scout for NFC team

Not a flashy player, but I like him.

I fear the Cowboys are giving away all the players they like and I think several teams are looking at our visits...

Seemed to happen to us last year a bit too.

He’s okay but I’m not a huge fan of his.

I’ll admit though, Quinn could probably get a guy with those physical traits to play well in his system.

Dudes a press man stud just wonder how well he’s fit into our zone heavy scheme.

If Quinn likes him I’m on board. Great round 2 target but wouldn’t be surprised to see him off the board well before then.

I think he is a day 3 caliber player that will probably go day. I think if they can manage to draft him on day 3 that would be ok. I don't think he is a guy that will be one of the top 2 CB's on a good defense, but maybe a top 3
I think Tyrique Stevenson is slightly underrated by the draft media.

He is very physical and aggressive in coverage but only had 1 flag in coverage the past 2 season combined.

I would want to interview him to see if he has the mindset to improve his technique.

He reminds me of a less polished version of Diggs (Diggs in college).

He will bite on double moves, and he can be overly aggressive leading to problems. however...

He has that skill that it seems has been lacking in many of the Cowboys CBs the past several years...
- Playing the ball at the point of arrival (arrival at the WR).

- It's the skill that separates Diggs from all the other Cowboys CBs the past decade.

Anthony Brown has been good at keeping up with WRs but his fails have generally been his play at the point of arrival.
- The deep pass to Packers WR Christian Watson last season. Brown was tight to Watson until just as the ball arrived.

Awuzie when he was here is the best example. He looked great right up until the ball arrived and he just couldn't make the play.

Nahshon Wright in the 2022 preseason. He was generally in the right place at almost the right time. He would just arrive a clock tick early or a clock tick late.

As @AsthmaField posted, he probably fits Quinn's defense better than some others.

I have heard he needs a lot of work in zone, but he is excellent in press coverage

If he has issues with busted coverage in zone like info says, no thanks. I wouldn’t take him before Day 3.

Stevens is a press corner. And if that’s what your asking him to play he’s got the tools to be a good one. But if we’re asking him to play zone that is not his strength.
