You could throw Diggs and several other DPOY candidates in the mix. But this thread is about Judon vs. Parsons.

Right now, Judon has 13 sacks for the Patriots while Parsons has 10. If we're counting strictly sacks, Judon wins. But I'd argue Parsons is a better overall player and it isn't even close, because of how he elevates other players around him.

I think Parsons' athleticism and versatility makes him a better candidate for DPOY, and over 90 percent of experts would draft Parsons over Judon, knowing what we know now.

But Judon is a legit player. I'm just curious how many think Parsons can actually become DPOY this year?

Judon is actually helping the Pats win games. Then again, so is Parsons.

Judon is a great player. But Parsons does everything. He has 3 force fumbles for the year, 1 for a TD, has more pressures and knockdowns than anyone else, and even has a couple of pass breakups here and there. Yes Parsons does everything. Judon is a good player. But being DPOY is not just sacks alone.

Which we found out when Ware was snubbed in favor of James Harrison.

Micah dang near makes the whole team go

its Micah

This is what I think, too. If it goes beyond sacks, then Micah brings that. There are some unintended consequences of Micah Parsons. But the good he brings outside of his own ability far outweighs any negatives.

I'll never get the hate on Parsons. Or why people would want to dis on him. But like he says, sometimes, you have to have the hard conversations and tell someone they've got something in their teeth. Or those aren't the type of people you really want to be around.

He's open to that much himself. And you have to have that. Or you don't really have a team; you only have an assembled group that meets the superficial definition of a team.

Judon has more pressures, knockdowns and passes defensed than Micah does. He only has one forced fumble though.
Regardless, Micah is the DPOY.

And to think Parsons by many was not at all loved by this community. I loved the pick from the Get Go. Having those two corners go was such a blessing, I never wanted any of those corners, I wanted Parsons and Jerry made me a happy man!

I've been liking Jerry Jones the past couple of years, too. But you can't say that around here.

Not just the sacks... Micah is great no matter where you put him.

I think Judon only wins it if he gets the sack record and Parsons DOESN'T get more than 15 sacks.
Another factor will be does the Patriots make the playoffs or not ?

It's been 8 years since a player on a non-playoff team has won Defensive player of the year (JJ Watt in 2014). Playoff teams are usually given preference when players have similar levels of stats

It's worth noting that the league is also going to award this based on how well their teams look. It's not often you would see a player win one of these awards if they're not in the playoffs. NE's path to the playoffs is much tougher than ours.
