Austin Smith, a 15-year-old from Ida Township, Mich., was spending a Saturday morning working on a car with his grandfather when tragedy struck, WDIV Detroit reports.

While Austin was inside the car, it shifted and collapsed, pinning his grandpa, Ernest "Papa Ernie" Monhollen, under 2,000 pounds of steel.

"I was just so scared," Austin told WDIV. "I didn't know what to do."

In a burst of love, and most likely adrenaline, Austin was able to lift the front end of the car high enough so that his grandpa could crawl out, WFTS TV reports.

“Thank God he was here because if it was just me and his grandmother, it would have been over,” Monhollen said, according to the station.

Awesome. I remember hearing of a 9 year old girl who did this years ago. Never really had confirmation if it was true, but it is entirely possible. Love and adrenaline are a powerful combination.

i'm pretty sure this exact situation happened to a 14 YO a few years ago and the kid was put on sports science or something. also there was a video on maximum exposure about 10 years ago of a guy trapped under a helicopter and a man lifts the helicopter by himself.

I've watched a couple episode of I shouldn't be alive and they talk a little about the science behind it. Very similar I think how the body can endure so much.
