They need to have him shadow the best receiver the way he is playing now. They need to put Newman in the slot because Scandrick keeps getting burned in the slot and Newman is a better tackler. Just put Scandrick on the number two in Nickel situations and keep Jenkins and Newman as the starters.

I think I'd MUCH rather have Newman playing the slot again. He was never nearly as bad as Scandrick is at it now. Unfortunately that means Scandrick would then be outside which, in his one start this year, he proved to be even worse at.

Scandrick was still playing slot in his start against the Giants early in the year.

It is also much harder to play slot CB than outside CB.

It would probably toughen up our 3rd down conversion rate considerably - I'm just a bit worried about Newman getting injured.

I don't think you will find anyone here who disagrees with that. I also think Jenkins right now is playing better than Newman ever did and I don't think you will find anyone here who disagrees with that.

Having said that, Newman is still good and is probably our best slot CB so we probably need to consider moving him back there to toughen up the nickel.
