Mike McCarthy deserves to be in the running for Coach of the Year. The job that he's done this year since the 49ers game has been tremendous. He's got us playing the best football that I can ever remember seeing us play (mind you, I'm a younger fan, so this is my perspective). I don't know if I've ever seen the team be this complete, this efficient, and this consistent. The offense is dynamic. He has Dak playing like Aaron Rodgers atm. DQ and him have this defence playing a physical form of defence. The takeaways have been spectacular. Our special teams, overall, has been terrific. Especially with our kicker, I think he's found a new Mason Crosby (his long time kicker in Green Bay). The culture is excellent atm. I think this team is starting to form an identity that, if Jerry can keep him and Dan Quinn around longer, I think can result in a Lombardi soon. Maybe not this year, but very soon.

It was a tweet shared last night

Mike McCarthy just set the
@GWR
for longest challenge flag toss by an NFL coach who had an appendectomy four days ago... Easily 15 yards in the air for the red flag...

Oh, I didn't realise that it was a record haha. That's a very good throw by him.

Mike's done a great job (so far) but the coach of the year for me right now has to be Payton.

That's gonna be difficult to accomplish given the fact that he's had two 12 win seasons already on his way to 1/3 so it's not like he's took a bottom team to the top it's gonna be three straight playoff appearances and usually don't get coach of the year unless say you win a Super Bowl maybe?? Most of the coach of the years come from somebody who took over a really bad team and then that same year turned it around...

I was on MM early in the season big time - and imo deservedly so - the play designs were very vanilla as was the play calling.

But after the SF game he opened it up and THAT is a trait I like to see in a coach...change it if it dont work.

Another point along those lines is I'm glad Mac is not trying to force that back shoulder fade - go with your players strength.

Kudos to Mac and also Dak who finally looks very comfortable in this offense - guy is ballin'

In the end what you want in a coach is to put your players in the best possible position to win the game - now if they dont win, so be it at least you gave it your best shot - thats all you can ask for as a fan.

The fact that he's got 3 10+ win seasons with a team that hasn't done that since the 90s is reason enough imo for that conversation. Not to mention how good he has been this season. Not to mention the job that he's done with this team, especially at playcalling, this season. I'm not saying he will win it, but he definitely deserves at least to be a finalist for it.

Exactly, and Mike's doing his job very well ATM imo.

No Big Mac? Feels like a late season run if he's considered. Campbell starting to lose it over there in Detroit.

I say we put away the annointing oil on these threads about contract extensions and awards, and just wait and see.

Great game, but season isn't over yet and we all know how that Tourney has played out so many times.
