This article gives me great hope that Mike will maximize what Dak can do, tailor the offense to his players‘ strengths, adjust throughout the season as injuries occur, and put the ball in the right hands in critical situations. After reading this, I have no doubt that some of his sideline antics of throwing down the play sheet when a possession ended this year were tied to his belief that Moore was more about calling plays by X’s and O’s than focusing on putting the ball in the right guy’s hand on a critical down.

“The day Mike McCarthy was hired as the 14th head coach in the history of the Green Bay Packers, he sought out to build an offensive system that would last.”

“Entering the final stretch of his 11th year as Packers head coach, McCarthy has fashioned one of the most consistently prolific offensive attacks in both franchise and NFL history.”

“The 2016 season has seen adversity wound into his fabric. A four-game midseason skid followed the loss of Eddie Lacy, Jared Cook and several starting offensive linemen to injury. However, McCarthy has adjusted his scheme to better serve the remaining personnel.”

“For McCarthy, that meant marrying his West Coast offensive principles to a diverse and multifaceted approach. His Midas touch working with quarterbacks was evident with Aaron Rodgers, who rapidly developed into a two-time NFL MVP in McCarthy's quarterback-friendly system.”

“That efficiency has been established with an extensive menu of effective personnel groups on offense. Whereas Lambeau revolutionized the forward pass and Lombardi the sweep, McCarthy has left his mark on Packer football with a chameleon-like approach to maximizing his personnel.” - This was the year he lost his RBs and used WR Montgomery as his RB and even developed Devontae Adams running routes out of the backfield.

Interesting reading. IMHO, a number of factors gradually changed perception:

1)His relationship soured with Rodgers, and coupled with key injuries, kept GB out of true contention for a couple of seasons.
2)Becoming HC in Dallas automatically draws criticism.
3)The perception grew from a few clock management snafus.
4)He’s fat.
5)Fans complain and overreact more than ever.

Good post, Chuck. Don’t expect as much traffic, though—it’s not negative!

Maybe I should change the title to hint at a negative view or to suck in the Dak haters.
”Can Mike Fix Dak?” — but then I’d have to read the same crap I’m already tired of reading…lol

I went back and watched their offense vs us in 2016 in the playoffs...my takeaways were...

1. Used his personelle effectively.
2. Was multiple in his formations
3. I liked the use of the fb...even used the qb in a shotgun with the fb to his side and the tb behind him. Ran the ball out of this formation.
4. Routes attacked different depth of the field at 4 levels.
5.Run blocking looked good to me...

Passing talent is ingrained. Dak has very little of it. The best coach in the history of the world can’t fix that. Asking Dak to run the WC offense, that relies mostly on quick reads and accurate intermediate throws, is like asking a cat to bark.

Maybe, but he CAN improve his game, and we CAN win with Dak. There’s a ridiculously long list of average QBs that have played in the Super Bowl.
