As a former fan of Sean Payton before the worst 10 years as a fan with Garrett, I appreciate Mike McCarthy and am not interested in Sean Payton right now, although I recognize his talent.

And I'm not picking on Mike here, but as a detail-oriented person, I can't help but notice how many times McCarthy answers a question by saying, "it's just like anything else" or "just like anything" and doesn't really follow it up with saying something that truly is "just like anything [else]."

If we were losing, or if we turn into a Garrett-like culture, I can see this being a big problem for him, unintentionally.

"It's just like anything else."

I'm not sure if he's cognizant how redundant this sounds, or if he's doing it to thumb his nose at the media.

Either way, this post is just like anything else, and I hope Mike finds a new phrase very soon.

He says it a few times every press conference.

Please, no!

I despised Garrett from day 1.. and those claps were just taunting me, along with that stupid grin, and rosy, ginger cheeks.

I'll take our redundant Kool Aid Man coach any day. At least he has substance.

Probably the best coach we've had since Jimmah.

Just a thing he says subconsciously probably.

People that aren't trained disciplined speakers usually have fallback phrases they use.
I had a boss who would constantly say "in terms of" every other sentence. We would snicker whenever he had to speak in front of us.

But he, like McCarthy, didn’t need to be a great speaker.

If it's either that or give away the game plan for next week, I think that's tolerable.

Right. But it just sounds kind of silly when that's your every answer..

I still like Mike. And still believe he's just as good, if not better, than Payton.

I honestly can’t stand coach press conferences. I hardly ever listen anymore. The only one I truly enjoyed was Parcells because he could be downright hilarious at times.

I listen to them all, because I like the extra insight. I get what you're saying though. It's mostly generic, Payton Manning speak. Just like anything else.

Aside from that, I think McCarthy is actually a good speaker. Does a good job at explaining without giving away his gameplan, and all that.

I'm just having a little fun. Nothing major. No big deal.

Even if we lose to the 9ers, I still want him back next year.
