Oregon players warned to stop simulating Oregon’s logo, or else
"That's not a salute to the military. Nor is that a praise to God. I think this borderlines on being unsportsmanlike conduct. And really what you want to do is not do something like this, so that you can actually take the officials out of that. I would say this: I'll go so far as to guarantee you that Chip Kelly and the Oregon Ducks will get a phone call this week and tell them that 'You need to stop doing this.' ...
"Why do I guarantee it? Because I'll [be the one to] make it."
I love the bluster, this fool really things he's doing the world a favor. Luckily he got put his his place.
To outlaw the O, he'd have had to disallow every collegiate hand gesture, like the Gator Chomp and the Longhorn's Hook Em.
The fact that he didn't even consider that before declaring he'd be telling Oregon to stop theirs is mind blowing to me.
Even worse, he then goes on to make the rule even MORE vague, instead of simply saying it's fine as long you don't taunt. Now he's left some indeterminate time period in there that is completely open to the interoperation of the referees. Why they hired this guy, I have no idea.
