Prior to the 2023 draft, Tyler Smith's scouting report included the line, "His play is often raw and disjointed - will need time to develop his skills."

Rookie Tyler Guyton has a similar description. Meanwhile, fellow rookie Cooper Beebe is being asked to play a different position than he did in college.

Without any further knowledge, a person might perceive the state of the Cowboys O-line to be struggling this season. This is especially true when you consider Terrence Steele had a down year while still feeling the effects of a prior injury and combine that with the probable final season for 34 year old Zack Martin.

The state of the Cowboys probable starting O-line seems dismal.

And yet......

We all know that Tyler Smith's trajectory has been a consistent rise to the top. He played well his rookie season in 2022. However, he flat broke out in 2023, earning Pro Bowl and 2nd team All-Pro honors.

Recently, we have seen an accelerated acclimation to the pro game by Tyler Guyton while Cooper Beebe's improvement at the center position continues at a rapid pace.

While the rapid rebuild of the Cowboys O-line cannot be fully attributed to their O-Line coach, Mike Solari, it cannot be denied that he has been an integral part in their probable return to dominance. Raw, talented offensive linemen in need of development are being transformed into NFL-ready starters practically overnight and if their potential begins to blend into a cohesive, efficient unit then Mike Solari will deserve a lot of credit.

Mike Solari has been an NFL coach for 37 seasons. His first job was assistant offensive line coach for the Cowboys under Tom Landry in 1986. He was the O-line coach for the 49ers team that beat the Cowboys in the NFC championship game for the 1994 season.

Mike Solari was the O-line coach for the Chiefs under Marty Schottenheimer. During that time, Mike McCarthy was the QB coach. Solari was also the O-line coach for the Seahawks under Pete Carrol.

Tom Landry, George Siefert, Mike Holmgren, Pete Carrol, Dick Vermeil, and Mike McCarthy have all won Super Bowls. Another thing they have in common is that Mike Solari coached their O-lines at some point in their careers. That is what you can call a resume.
