It was obvious after the half when the Cowboys were up by 17 that the game was in the bag. The defense was playing lights out against the original $240 million dollar man. They weren’t going to come back against Zimms defense, So MM does the correct thing and closes the playbook and plays conservatively. No need to expose plays when you don’t need to.

This is the NFL folks. It’s extremely hard to win in the NFL. It’s even harder to win on the road opening day against the best defense in the NFL last year. Against a team that plays physically on both sides of the ball. Traits that last year would cause a loss. What a breath of fresh air to watch that game and see the Cowboys issues of the last 2 years looking like they’ve been addressed. It’s only 1 game and the next game will also be tough. But what a great way to start out the season.

Did you do an analysis of the play calling? Would be super curious to see how different it was vs the first half. I was making pizza and drinking scotch while I watched so I didn’t notice the vanilla second half as much as I might otherwise have

They still passed more than they ran with a three score lead the entire second half.

No I didn’t do an analysis. Just my opinion from watching the game.

umm right too much but that is the WCO short passes are like runs, that DL hard to run up the middle so they did throw bit more.

I think "closed the playbook" is a vast overstatement.

Didn't have to go deeper into the playbook might be a better way to put it.
