MNF goin to ESPN......just wrong.

You mean, everyone doesn't have cable?

ESPN has an eight year contract for the MNF games. My real hope is that they'll seriously dial back the glitz, papparazi, hollywood figures, T & A, and music element of the telecasts and gear it to what serious football fans want (football). Do I think that will happen? Not a chance in he11.

I absoulutely hate this. I cannot stand ESPN's announcers at all, they ramble on about the dumbest things, and will do anything, even inturrupt eachother, to point out what a spectacular play the highlight reel player makes, even if it was nothing more than a simple routine play.

It also drives me nuts how they will not stop mentioning the star player, at any cost. I mean I have seen examples where the guy isn't on the field and they still are talking about him, making him sound like the greatest player ever at his position.

Hopefully the ratings drop like lead with ESPN. I would love to see them choke at something.

They were talking about this on 103.3 one day after the announcement was made, and the host was claiming that anyone who liked sports at all had cable -- even if they were broke, he said, they'd somehow find a way to pay for it. Well, then someone gave them the info that only something like 60% of people in the DFW area had cable, which surprised everyone. So a lot of people won't be able to see MNF anymore.

I know the claim from the NFL was that there will still be the same number of broadcast games because the Sunday night game will be on NBC, but still... There is something wrong about a lot of people not being able to watch the NFL on Monday night.

I will be lucky nuff to see it since we can see ESPN. But there will be alota fans of all teams out there that now will not be able to see MNF. Sux and I feel for them. Anyone know how long ESPN has MNF. Hopefully not long. I hate ESPN and the people that work for them.

I am sure it is about the $$$$$$$, however, I agree with you......ABC Monday Night football is a tradition for us long time die-hard fans!

I am lucky to have cable, but check this out..............I live in the MD/DC area and they had a Commanders/Iggles game on ESPN sunday night football, They ALSO AIRED IT ON WB50(A local channel) So everyone who didnt have cable could tune in and watch it. Im Pretty sure that with MNF moving to ESPN, they will also air it via a BASIC CABLE Channel so EVERYONE can watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not everyone, but everyone in the local areas of both teams will have a free simulcast of the game on a basic old-fashioned air-wave channel.

Let me make sure I understand.

So if dont have cable and your team is playing on Monday Night on ESPN, you will be able to get the game or no?

I have cable, I am just curious about this aspect of it and what channel would it be on?

Here in Houston when the Texans played on espn they showed it on local TV channel 13 ABC. That way people who do not have cable can see the game.

Ya It Sucks I Had To Get Cable Almost 50 Dollers A Month Now It Hurts To Some Ppl Like Me I Hate It If Low Income It Hurts Some Jejej

Well....

It is not me :D, but I have a friend that has a Cable Modem and just spits the cable and runs it into the TV.

That way you get basic Cable and Internet for a nice fee of $50.

When they said only 60% had cable, did they also say how many had ESPN on satellite?
Sorry, that was cable + satellite... Basically anything over the basic network broadcasts.

Yeah, they do the same thing here in Tampa for the Bucs. ESPN games are shown on ABC.

That agreement just exists with local franchise which serve local markets.
So if you're in Washington, then you would see the ESPN game on a local channel. If you're in Dallas, same thing applies as it would for any market served by a particular team.

But local markets would not be able to show ALL ESPN cable games.
