It’s lunchtime here in Scotland, and I’m bored, so did a 4 round mock draft. See what you think.
This is a middle-heavy draft class, we are really thin at OL and DL, and there are still skills FAs like Allen and Asante Jr out there.
So the strategy was to trade down multiple times, raise the floor, take as many picks within the first 100 as possible, and prioritise the trenches over skills positions.
1) Traded 12 for the Texans’ 25, 58, and 79.
2) Then traded 25 and 44 for Buffalo’s 30, 56, and 62.
Ended up with 6 picks in the top 80.
3) Picked as follows:
30 - Tyleik Williams, DT Ohio
Burden, Hampton and Revel were there, but again, I’m looking at trenches first. James Pearce Jr was there, and I’m a big fan, but I decided to go with strength, immovability and 3T/1T versatility with Williams.
56 - TreVeyon Henderson, RB Ohio
Exception that proves the rule: much as we need bulk and aggression, the bottom line is RB1 is also a top priority. Henderson brings toughness and elite blocking as well as good speed.
58 - Demetrius Knight Jr., LB South Carolina
Sanborn and Murray might work for depth, but with Overshown a health question mark, we need a LB. Schlesinger is my guy, but he was gone, and Knight brings maturity, game intelligence and professionalism.
62 - Aireontae Ersery - OT Minnesota
Left tackle that potentially allows us to move Guyton to RT on pass plays.
76 - Shemar Turner, DT A&M
Potentially a steal. Doubt he falls this far in real life. Aggressive and athletic with good technique. Lack of length isn’t too much of a problem imo.
79 - Jared Wilson, C Georgia
Will need to develop against NFL levels of power and aggression, but if he develops as projected, he will be another good option at C or G, to rotate with Beebe and Hoffman.
Thoughts?
