10. Micah Parsons
We get our leader on Defence. Parsons is a great prospect and if he is there at 10 and we arent running to the podium (virtually) we are going to be laughed at. Parsons is a freak of nature and has only been playing the position for 2 years. If we can keep Sean Lee at a discount this offseason and have him mentor Parsons we are looking at the next coming of Luke Kuechly

42.
Ifeatu Melifonwu
Turned a lot of heads at the senior bowl. Would have loved him in the third but I dont see it happening now. This kid fits what Quinn likes, and has all the talent in the world to become a star in the NFL.

74.
Tyler Shelvin
The run defender this team has needed for years. Automatically makes us better on the DL and gives our LB's a chance to make plays.

99.
Andre Cisco
I know its a little early for him but his ball production and his physical nature at a position of need had me take him here. Paring him with Wilson will give us a nice duo, and Quinn I feel can coach him to his full potential.

114.
Patrick Jones II
Why not add another terror to the DL? Hes balanced, has a variety of moves, and can rush the passer. In the 4th, what else can you want?

139.
Cole Van Lanen
Understudy to Tyron. I know he doesnt have great arm length but the kid is strong, and his feet are quick. He can be a good player for us and fills in the need for a backup tackle should Tyron get hurt.

With some key FA signings I feel this is a step in the right direction of infusing some talent on defence and gives us a chance every Sunday to win with Dak at the helm.

Looking forward to your thoughts.

I like this class! Not a fan of Cisco, but at 99, worth the risk.

Agree. I like it but I would rather have Farley than Parsons but if Farley was gone I would go with Parsons. Not a big fan of Cisco either. Would rather have Washington if he made it that far. I am assuming that Moehrig and the UCF safety is off the board.

Did you factor in Farley and Surtain being off the board when you chose Parsons?
Was Sewell and Slater off the board?

Farley was gone so was surtain. It was parsons slater or pitts

I’d be ok with that.

I go back and forth on Parsons. I love his physical ability and his aggressive nature, but rumors have made me nervous about his smarts and love of the game. Plus, 43 off-the-ball LB’s just aren’t that impactful most of the time. Also, I love instincts and football IQ in my LB’s... does Parsons have those? I don’t know.

Ultimately, I’d be ok with it because I love defenders like him and if Dallas took him 10th, you’d have to think that they:

1). Vetted the character concerns and he came back good.

and

2) Quinn has a plan in mind to use his size and athleticism in an impactful way. Maybe at LEO where his instincts as a pass rusher could come into play. He is a natural pass rusher and is also plenty athletic enough to drop into coverage. If the team used him correctly, he could be well worth the 10th pick.

I’m not crazy about Melifonwu, but to be fair I haven’t studied him that closely. I do know that physically, he fits the mold. He could be just what the doctor ordered in Quinn’s defense.

Shelvin, I like because he’s not just a huge guy... he also has good football instincts, understands the game and is pretty fundamentally sound. He’s a good football player IMO. That usually makes for one hell of a player for run defense. However, with the proliferation of the Shanahan stretch zone offense around the league, DT’s are needing more and more lateral mobility. That offense gets DL moving sideways and big huge guys like Snacks Harrison have real issues with that. Go straight at them and you can’t move them... but that offense, which is becoming very popular (Green Bay/SF/Rams/etc) gives them real problems. How is Shelvin going sideways? I’m not sure.

Cisco, I really want to like because of his nose for the ball and his big-time ball skills, however he does a lot of guessing (which is part of why he gets so many INT’s) and that can kill a defense. Perhaps Quinn feels that can be coached out of him and he can be taught to tackle better, in which case you’d likely have a very good player. In the end, getting Cisco that late would be fine with me because his upside is so high and because he fits the defense really well.

Jones I very much like with that pick. He might go sooner but I’d do 114 all day long. He’s a solid player who can be part of a good rotation up front. He might have a better pro career than he did in college.

I don’t know enough about Van Lanen to even discuss him as a prospect.
