I was suprised when we signed Marco Rivera to play RG. I thought we would be trying to sign Kareem McKenzie. Although I didnt mind signing Rivera, I like many other Zoners thought RT was a bigger need. Also, was McKenzie's contract similar to Rivera's? Would our money have been better spent on McKenzie or will we get our money's worth in Rivera? Besides, wasnt Peterman our starting RG last year in TC before his injury?

Peterman wasn't our starter before he got injured last year, in fact, he was struggling, Pettiti is doing fine for the amount invested in him, McKenzie has reached his ceiling and is just above average, with a huge contract

And Rivera is playing lights out? Our OG's should be dominating based upon there skills and not just their contracts. Contracts mean squat (see Crayton playing more than Price) to BP. Rivera is too slightly above average and McKenzie is younger and plays a more important postion.

am I even talking about Rivera?

I thought I was comparing him to Pettiti, since both are RTs, and you're saying we should have signed McKenzie

...were saying that the other Packer lineman was the better deal at the time. I hope it just Rivera getting over the back injury this year. We need him to pan out over the life of the contract to give us some time to develop a young replacement.

But the fact Rivera is still starting probably tells you Peterman isn't good enough.

Rivera should be a Lion, IMO. McKenzie was the player who I thought Dallas was drooling for to play RT. They got comparative contracts, I think. Yet, we still arent consistant on the right side with Pettiti in there. Would McKenzie have changed that? probably. Peterman was playing solid in TC and Noll was improving. Instead we went with a hurt player, a rookie and a guy who is struggling. We outbid for a player where we could have similiar production from a younger person. We also signed him to a deal where he may retire before it is over. McKenize is younger and plays a postion where our style of RB's could rely on him to dominate the DE to bounce it outside.

yeah, but for the money McKenzie got, and the money Pettiti is getting, we got a better deal, the sky is the limit for Pettiti, McKenzie has reached his ceiling and is just above average

BP thought that the success of Drew Bledsoe would depend upon us keeping teams from pressuring him upthe middle and collapsing the pocket. The signing of Drew was directly related to the signing of Rivera

that's the one good thing Rivera has brought to Dallas, and the only

Rivera is an ALL pro recovering from back injury. We can run right some now. The guy is also a veteran leader coaching up Petitti and Tucker.

We are 7-3. Should we be 10-0? 11 points more scored we would be.

Having someone as solid as Rivera is a great thing for a young RT and a young C. He's in the middle of two young players, and he can help them both out.

As for Marco's play, I believe I just read this week that he was only recently able to start lifting again due to his back problem. To me, that explains a ton about him getting pushed backwards sometimes.

At this point, who knows. We had to do something about a RG so from that perspective I guess so. He is an upgrade over last year. For the money he cost us, we probably could have spent the money better elsewhere. For me it is to soon to tell.

The thing is he is getting OT money to play a position where we could have signed Andruzzi and KM for similiar amounts of cash. I expected Julius to lead the league in rushing and though I know my expectations were off I still expected some dominance in the middle of our OLine.
