I feel bad for Bartman - yes, he probably should have let Alou catch the ball, however the SS bobbled the very next hit that would have ended the rally and possibly preserved their win as well as the series. Still, it was only game six. Cubs have no excuse for losing game seven when they had their ace Wood on the mound.

And there's no guarantee they would have defeated the Yanks had they made the World Series.

Anyways, always thought Bartman got a raw deal because of this...

I always felt bad for him...when I saw what he had done I said to myself,"that poor bastid "....here is a Cub fan,with great seats, in the biggest game in 100 years for the Cubs and he screwed the pooch...

I totally feel sorry for Bartman. He did what any one of us would have done.

I'm a Cubs fan, and Wood is an excellent pitcher and probably an ace on most teams but he's probably out #3 starter. I'd take both Zambrano and Prior over Wood. I too wish they still would have gone on to get game 7, but I think that devastating loss took all of the wind out of their sails.

Also forgot to mention, Ron Santo bought the infamous ball and destroyed it. It took place at his restaurant, they were taking suggestions on how to destroy it and in the end I think they ended up blowing it up.
