What would it take to move up? with DP contract ending ending after 2024 season we will know to move on from him. This year First pick Bears ; third pick Cardinals and sixth pick Detroit. If not this year then next year. We haven’t taken a first round pick since Troy. Thoughts

I'd rather move up for the best dt,we all know we're stuck with #4,so might as well try to have the best defense we can get and hope for a ravens type outcome.

The only guys worth moving for is a Mahomes, Rogers, Herbert, or Burrow. None is this draft. Wait till next year and see.

Taking a first round QB this year means they lose two years of the cheap QB advantage. Build the spots around the QB so if/when a rookie has to start he can at least do so on a team where he can have early success.
Agreed. If your going to draft a young QB then it needs to be at the right time. If and when we can trade Dak would be the time to do that. Or if you see a great young QB in rounds 2 or later.

In this draft the Cowboys should look to find a prospect like Hooker, Tennessee in the second round. He is an older prospect that has all the tools and he could be our backup this season. Tall, athletic, strong arm but is currently recovering from an ACL. Hooker is worth a look.

This can't be emphasized enough. Dallas lost several years of Dak being inexpensive by paying off Romo's contract. An NFL team's window is when you have a good QB on their rookie deal. Taking a guy now is just shortening that window (if the guy is good).

The value, long term players in the NFL are linemen. If your thought is to win later with a young QB, start building an O line now.

This logic is faulty. First of all, this only applies if you find a franchise QB, which you don't know. But if you do, then it's worth missing out on the cheap to have your franchise QB for 12-15 years. Even one SB is worth it in that time. The QB has always been the most important position a team.

I think you let QB Guru McCarthy n Scout Jerry identify a mid round QB prospect they'd like to develop and pick him. I like the skill set of the QB from Houston so far.

He's injured so he fits our 2nd Round pedigree!

If you go by the draft value chart, our first pick is worth 700, and the 3rd pick overall is worth 2200. Our entire draft doesn't come close. Even the 6th overall pick is worth 1600. After giving up our 26th pick, Dallas still has to find 900 more points. This is not something they can do without giving up multiple first round picks in the future.

Even if Dallas wanted to do that, other teams with more draft capital would probably out bid Dallas.

Lets just wait and see what they do with Dak first. If they restructure his contract in any way, you know they intend to keep him beyond 2024.

I’d ask Carson Palmer, Phillip Rivers, the Carr brothers, Andrew Luck, and Matthew Stafford if having a good team around them is important.

I have no idea how this is relevant to what I said.
I said Dallas should not draft a QB in the first round this year because it would essentially be a waste of two years and that they should build a team around the position first.

You said that was wrong because a franchise QB is good even if they only win one Super Bowl in 15 years.

I said guys like Carson Palmer, Phillip Rivers, the Carr brothers, Andrew Luck, and Matthew Stafford would disagree and building a team around them would have been better. Heck, I’d even say Green Bay wasted Aaron Rodgers with just the one Super Bowl in his career.

My point was that there is no waste of years if you hit on a franchise QB. This is regardless if the organization has a team around him at the time or even if he sits the bench for two years. It’s irrelevant. You’ve found the most important player on your team for the next 12-15 years. It’s why they are paid the big bucks and why they make other personnel decisions easier. It’s why the Chiefs are in the SB three out of the last five years and why Cincinatti and Buffalo are competing for them, and likely why the Chargers will soon be.

Don’t do this to yourself

Tank for Caleb Williams in 2024

If Anthony Richardson somehow drops to 26 I ABSOLUTELY use my first round pick on him.
Gives you 2 years to develope him.
From a physical standpoint the kid is elite.
