Move up for QB?

What would it take to move up? with DP contract ending ending after 2024 season we will know to move on from him. This year First pick Bears ; third pick Cardinals and sixth pick Detroit. If not this year then next year. We haven’t taken a first round pick since Troy. Thoughts
Not in this draft. Actually there likely isn't anyone at 26 worth the 26 pick. I'd trade down and get two picks in each round on Friday.

CB, DT, WR or RB, OL in any order sounds like a good haul.

not impressed by this year's group. bryce young is too smallish for NFL. he is a lesser kyler murray. CJ Stroud is going to go top 10, has the size, pedigree and stats, but not sure how he projects to NFL. he is not a can't miss candidate.

the rest have holes, question marks and need time to develop. so not sure what will be available lower part of first round. I rather take a CB, OT, DT that may drop as those are needs. and perhaps take a chance on one of the QBs in 2nd round. this draft has a lot of boom or bust type players that we get a few with our bevy of mid round picks. you just need to hit on one or two good ones.

It's going to be a dark day here when they extend Dak before the draft. He currently has the 2nd highest cap hit in the NFL in 2023 and 2024. It's coming.

Extending Dak to lower the cap hit and creating an easy out might be the best thing for this team.

Give him a year or 2 while adding some big FAs and having an out that doesn’t hurt the team would be great IMO. Draft someone to develop this year and next year.

The only guys worth moving for is a Mahomes, Rogers, Herbert, or Burrow. None is this draft. Wait till next year and see.
No one thought this before the drafts though... was all hindsight and everyone except Burrow was passed on

In a few years, with Dak regressing as he is, ....... we will get a high draft pick and you get one then.

Nothing can be done until then but hope and pray

Tank for Caleb Williams in 2024

If Anthony Richardson somehow drops to 26 I ABSOLUTELY use my first round pick on him.
Gives you 2 years to develope him.
From a physical standpoint the kid is elite.
Id rather tank for Maye.

What measurables did we miss on Brock Purdy?

Are there reports out of San Francisco on what they saw in him?

I'd be curious if a package deal of #26 and a player like Diggs would get the Cowboys in the conversation for one of the 3 Stroud, Levis and Young. And also what McClay's scout/evaluation team has on any or all of these 3 as a future elite starter.

IF evaluated as potentially elite and the team has a taker with this type trade up, I'd like to see the Cowboys pull the trigger.

I am not a fan of the current quarterback purgatory, aka Dak Prescott, for 2 or more years which the team is in regardless of contract and trade clause.

No risk.
No reward.

It's an interesting year for QBs. There's lots of starter-caliber raw talent, but no one screams franchise player.

Young and Stround look like they are going to be mid-range starters to me... good enough to get a team like the Texans off the mat, but not good enough to win a Super Bowl. AR-15 has Pro Bowl upside and CFL downside, but the dice have been loaded towards mobile QB prospects in recent years. Will Levis is total fool's gold and is a Sam Darnold clone.

On paper, I would be wiling to draft Stroud and Richardson. The issue is more financial... the boon of drafting a 1st round QB is the cost savings from their rookie contract, but if you're still paying Dak, you don't realize any of that. We are more or less married to Dak for 2 years. So we'd only get half the benefit from say Richardson hitting on his rookie deal. Next year IMO is when drafting QB early starts making sense.
