1. Can’t blame them for how the board fell. No one expected Zion and Green to go so early. That combined with the receiver run pretty much wiped us out.

2. Smith is certainly raw but he has traits that can’t be taught. The move inside to guard should help cut down the penalties. Our run game is going to be much better with him inside. Most teams considered him a late first rounder. He just turned 21 so the upside is huge.

3. If he develops and eventually takes over for Tyron this is a great pick. Time will tell.

Also if Steele regresses or Connor McGovern improves he could also be RT, there is some flexibility there. I would say right now based on last year Smith is probably penciled in as starting LG.

This is where your OLine coach gets him out of the holding pattern . If his run blocking helps open things up in the passing game it’s a good pick . 52 was not the answer and if 66 couldn’t stay in as starter he wasn’t the answer . Welcome to Dallas Mr. Smith .

Philbin coached the most penalized O-Line in the NFL last season and now gets a guy with penalty issues. Not exactly a match made in heaven

I know it’s an issue . He’s got more physical talent then 52 or 66 . This might help with work on technique . Seems like a brawler which this line will need in the interior with the likes of Jordan Davis twice on the schedule , among others.

Dallas may be thinking long term he’s the answer to 77 going down yearly . Interesting to think he could be Daks blind side protection on pass plays . Hope he turns it up and justifies being a # 1.
