He had his Aortic Valve Replaced and one Bypass.
I've worked in this Hospital for 23 years...and although I've seen many...it's still weird seeing your Dad on a vent.
Can't wait to Golf with him next spring.
Man his Heart team was precise...Pre and Post OP.
Can't beat Cleveland Clinic Dr's...for Heart Surgery.
I should add that this DR is from Cleveland Clinic but does surgery out of my Hospital...Lake Health.
My mother had an Arotic Valve replaced about 3 years ago. While its a scary procedure, its also fascinating and most people make it through. For some the cow replacement is better. But my mother got the kind from a pig that is supposed to last 10-15 years. And then she can get it replaced again.
I know the fear and uncertainty you're going through. But be thankful that things aren't worse and just be there for your dad and show him you love him the best you can.
All I can say is technology has come a long way, and I believe if you search the forum I may have written about this very topic. You should youtube the procedure. Once you see it, you'll probably feel more at ease.
Yes, I know it's your father. But I think if you stay positive he'll feed off that and your attitude could help him make it through this major surgery--and now since he's made it thru the hard part.
I wish you the best. And I pray for you that everything works out well. Heart disease runs in my family. Hos knew my uncle in Tuscon who died from open heart surgery. So I know since you work in the medial field, you know the seriousness. Just keep a positive attitude. And tell your dad if he sees the light to turn away. He can always go back later. I had my mother laughing her head off 5 min before her surgery and everything went fine.
