IMO these were the best eras of music. Here are my fav artists from then.

The Rutles
I especially loved their songs that had real-life meaning. She Loves Glue (yeah, yeah) was about a dude who's girlfriend was into sniffing glue. Yellow Submarine Sandwich was also great. Another great song was that one about a bronze statue of a woman that people hated and therefore pelted it with garbage. An enterprising blacksmith melted it down for its copper in a process known as "smelting." The Rutles wrote a song about that named "Pelt Her, Smelt Her." Their albums, Shabby Road, The Caucasian album, and Dr Pepper's Lonely Farts Club Band were sheer brilliance.

KFC and the Moonshine Band
This was superb disco from the 70s. My fav songs by them was Snake, Snake, Snake and their song about being addicted to gambling, I'm Your Bookie Man.

Sad Company
For 70s rock, these guys were super. Their song Can't Eat Enough about food addiction was awesome.

Blush
I loved their concept album, 3112, but my favorite song was their breakup song, Cry By Night.

Oh, and how could I forget the goddess of disco, Donna Smother?

Those are my favs from that era. List yours.

I liked the classics. Santana, Hendrix, Cream, the Animals, Steppenwolf, Stones, Jefferson Airplane (Somebody to love is still one of my all time favorites with an exception bass guitar riff), Moody Blues, Led Zeppelin and Rod Stewart. There were some more obscure groups I liked like King Crimson that I liked but there was so much good music back then. I also liked Roberta Flack. When I worked a summer job at WT Grants her songs were always playing on the music system in the store. It grew on me even though it was soft compared to the other stuff I normally listened to.

I have a few favs from that era......

The Zambonis and one of their hits "He's Not There" about those sad hockey games when you have to pull the goalie just to try and score some goals

The Strolling Stones and of course, their mellow hits, "Paint It Beige", "Joggin' Jack Flash" and "Get Off Of My Yard"

The Grateful Undead and all their horror inspired classics such as "Friend of The Zombie", "Touch of Gray Matter" and "Bloody Magnolia"

The Peach Boys and their southern classics "Georgia Girls", "Little Farmer Girl", "Farmin' USA", "Farmin' Safari", and "Little Deuce Tractor".

Hamilton Airplane and actually it was a later hit I loved the most, "We Built This Country" and It was turned into a big Broadway production!

The Frugals had an all-time classic hit. I always loved the chorus in that song:

Welcome to the Motel 6 in California!
Such a lovely place ~bring your mace~
You'll get to third base

They're fooling around at the Motel 6 in California!
What a nice surprise ~except for the flies~

Most beds are king-sized...

60's elvis was cool...specially the comeback special in '68 and his brilliant recording sessions at american studios in '69...in the ghetto, suspicious minds, kentucky rain, don't cry daddy.

but i love 70s elvis.
touring the country year in/year out.
the evolution of his band.
and those jumpsuits.
