I just think that guys in the league talk, and at the end of the day, they don't want to deal with the owner/gm or his son. They have eyes and ears and have witnessed the ineptitude of the owner/gm to put a championship product together. They see that the owner/gm only wants to win his way, and his way only.

The only reason that would be the case is because the Cowboys have become cheap with outside free agents so why waste your time talking with them? Based on that Slater quote, they wait for things to come to them vs going out to make it happen.
