Obviously, Jerry is the ultimate factor for when it comes to who is coaching the Cowboys. I'm this thread, I will explore my ideas for a new coaching staff for the Cowboys. Obviously, I think the Head Coach should pick his staff, but we also know how things work here. So, I will try to present what I think is my ideal coaching staff.

Firstly, I think the head coach should be a defencive coach. When your quarterback is a young QB, you need an offensive coach who can help develop your QB. However, Dak Prescott is going to be the QB for about 3 more seasons at a minimum. He is a veteran QB with a lot of experience. I think the coaches that I would want at head coach would be primarily defencive minded. Unfortunately, Vrabel was hired by the Patriots, and I highly doubt we'd have a shot at Belichick even if he wasn't at North Carolina. I think the coaching staff should be a defencive-minded HC, especially one would focus on implementing a physical football mindset.

So, to me, for HC, I want either Aaron Glenn or Brian Flores. I think both are big on physicality. I think Flores is less likely. So, I'd say I would ideally like Aaron Glenn at Head Coach. Firstly, the Joneses like coaches that they know and have prior experience with, and Aaron Glenn used to play here. He is a Parcells disciple as he played with Parcells. I think it's important to have a Parcells-type coach because that means physicality and no nonsense. I think Glenn would be a great choice at HC.

I think for OC, I would like Anthony Lynn (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Lynn), who is the running game coordinator and running backs coach for the Washington Commanders. He was here when Glenn was playing here in 2005-2006. Additionally, he was the OC for the 2021 Detroit Lions during Glenn's first year as Lions DC. So, they have history and both share a branch on the Parcells tree. I think Lynn would be someone who helps Dak because his focus would be on producing an effective run game. When Dak is at his best, he likes to have an effective run game to use the playaction. In fact, granted the link is from 2018, but https://www.pff.com/news/fantasy-football-metrics-that-matter-quarterbacks-on-play-action shows that Dak Prescott had an average QBR of 97.0 without the playaction and 122.0 with the play action with a minimum of 850 passing attempts. I am not able to find his most recent breakdown for non playaction vs playaction. However, https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-qbs-including-dak-prescott-134654684.html shows that Dak Prescott had an average QBR of 104.2 in 2024. So, given that Dak prefers the playaction pass and knowing where his receivers would be (which was something that Parcells liked from his QBs where they had to know presnap what to do), it makes sense to have an OC that gels well with Glenn, can instil a physical run game, and can play to Dak's strengths. To me, Anthony Lynn would play to Dak's strength. I think with Lynn at OC, we would be much better at running the ball, which would set Dak up to be able to do what he does best and play to his strengths.

I think for DC, Zimmer would be a great choice to remain, especially since the team including Parsons seems to like him. Plus, he has history with Glenn and Parcells too.

For special teams, I would like Rich Bisacchia, but I don't think we can hire laterally since he's the Packers Special Teams coordinator. However, perhaps Chris Gould, assistant special teams coordinator for the Chargers. I think he'd be a good fit for Aubrey.

Finally, I do think having Witten in as a TE coach would be good. I think he's a tough coach who would is also a contemporary of Glenn, Lynn, and Zimmer. I think, since he wants perfection, he would really be good for Ferguson and our other TEs.

So, my ideal coaching staff, given the Jerry variable, would be Glenn at HC, Lynn at OC, Zimmer at DC, Gould at ST, and Witten at TE coach. Most of them are Parcells guys, and I think we could have a return of a Parcells-tough team.

Aubrey doesn't need a coach. He is the coach.

No Jerry. Every part of this rambling coaching staff sucks

Firstly, I'm not Jerry. Secondly, why does it suck? Lynn is a solid coach, and I think we need to be a more physical team. I think Glenn gives us a HC who would set a focus on physical football. Tbf, I did almost suggest Al Harris for DC if Zimmer retires, but still whether it's Glenn, Lynn, Zimmer, Gould, and Witten or Glenn, Lynn, Harris, Gould, and Witten, it's still more of a Parcells-type coaching staff that's meant to build a tougher and more physical team. I think my ideas would play to the strengths of the team while adding in a much more physical team.

a new HC should be allowed to hire their own staff, not have jerry force them to work with whomever he chooses.

If jerry would allow a HC to do this, I'd trust them to hire the people they feel fit the needs best

I agree that I would want the hc to hire their own staff. I even said that in the OP. That said, the list of coaches in the OP are who I'd ideally like to see. Plus, I could see Glenn, if hired, bringing in Lynn as Lynn was one of the coaches when he was here and they coached together for a year in Detroit.

I like it! You put much thought into your idea and I might add you did your homework as well. Good job sir!

Thank you. Tbf, I would say if Zimmer wants to retire that I'd want Al Harris at DC. Either way, I think this coaching set up accommodates Jerry, gives us Parcells-type toughness, and I think it'd play to the strengths of the team.

How bout Saleh as your DC if he doesnt get hired as an HC? Also, I would keep Bones if that were possible

I would like to keep Bones, but I think he ends up in San Francisco. I would like Saleh if possible, but I think Zimmer or Harris would be good choices too. Plus, with Zimmer, it keeps a level of continuity of coaches that worked with Parcells.

Glenn, Zimmer, and Harris would give Dallas a tough at the core Defense.

Exactly, and then, factoring in Lynn at OC and Witten at TE coach, we would have a tough offense too. One that focuses heavily on tough physicality, and one that demands good oline play, tight ends to block, and a tough run game that allows Dak to play to his strengths. It would probably take a season or two (unfortunately, much like Romo's late stage of his career) to get the last stages of players the coaching staff would need (especially since Jerry doesn't use free agency). However, I think we do have players already that, with this kind of coaching, would thrive in that system. I think a back like Jeanty or Skatabo from Arizona State would really give us a physical running game, and we'd then be able to open up the play action.

As for our defence, my goodness. Imagine a defence led with Glenn, Zimmer, and Harris? That would be one tough defence. I think it could lead to quite a fun team with this coaching staff in place. Plus, two of them probably have Parcells on speed dial if they need tips, which is valuable too.

Until he hits a slump.....thats where a good ST coach is most valuable.

Even Mahomes has a Qb coach.;)

Exactly, and Gould is a former kicker and is the assistant ST coach for the Chargers. We'd be making him the full time ST coach here. Plus, he probably has helped Dicker, so he would probably also be able to help Aubrey.
