It gets so old reading fans blaming the coaches, blaming the players, blaming the QB. It’s low-hanging fruit, and it’s lazy.
We haven’t failed to win a divisional playoff game in three decades because of McCarthy, Quinn who I’m actually sick of, or Dak.

Why can’t fans just accept that we are not one of the best teams in the NFL. Stop listening to Jerry and the media who falsely state that we have one of the most talented rosters in football; that’s garbage to anyone who understands what it takes to win against the best, to win in the playoffs, to win when the game plan must be thrown out the window. Having a bunch of flashy stars doesn’t make a great team.

We cannot run the ball; we cannot stop the run. Those are the very basic fundamentals that anyone must do to win.

We have a flashy pass rush sometimes; we sometimes get turnovers.
We have a flashy pass offense with some playmakers.
We have flashy players who love mics and podcasts and selling themselves on social media.

Besides that, what DOES this team have? We don’t have a run game that scares even the worst team in the league; we don’t break long runs; we can’t grind it out; play-action is therefore a waste of time, and we can’t eat up clock with a lead or wear down a defense Unless it’s their pass rushers who get tired. There is not a defense in the NFL who needs to game plan for our run game. GB dared us to run with 5 and 6 man boxes, and we failed.

Against weak teams, our defense can hold the score down. Against weak QBs, we sometimes get big INTs. But we cannot dominate anyone. We seldom get 3 and outs; we can’t stop a team when we have them pinned down deep on their end; we can’t push the pocket back in the QBs lap from the interior.

We do not have a physical presence on either side of the football. The Dallas Cowboys are a finesse team on offense and defense.

Besides Miami, who runs the ball better than us and has a much higher ranking against the run, name me a team in the playoffs less physical and more finesse than the Cowboys. We have spent the last 3 decades blaming every coach, every QB. Today all the blame is still being thrown on the wrong people. The players play hard and try to win. The coaches sometimes crap the bed with inexplicable game plans like last night on defense. Last night we were out-coached on both sides of the ball, but that happens to all teams. When you are one dimensional on offense and one dimensional on defense and have the inability to smack anyone in the mouth or even shift emphasis or style to make the defense or offense do something different, you lose.

GB sold out to smother Lamb and blanket every receiver with man coverage backed up by zone matchup so no one, not even the TE or RB, ever got off the line without someone in his face with help deep. They dared us to run, but we couldn’t. Mike tried to force it to make them change the defense, but they controlled our run without any help. Light boxes and we still couldn’t run.

GB came out running the ball down our throats, and when we brought the safeties down because we have no other answer, they laughed and stopped running, instead throwing to wide open receivers because without safety help, our corners played way off everyone, never pressing them. The pass rush never got home because without pressing receivers they were running free immediately.

Keep blaming the easy names; in a few years, you’ll have other coaches and QBs to blame, but ask yourself. If Dallas had either a dangerous explosive run game or even a 3 yards and cloud of dust grind it out run game, could we have used it to force GB into at least 7 man boxes or looser zones that gave our receivers a chance And make our play-action effective? If we had a physical, strong front seven with Powerful DTs and a thumper or 2 at LB, would we have controlled GBs run game better, and could we maybe have played more man coverage with deep safety help which is our usual defense. Maybe receivers wouldn’t have been running free, making uncontested catches, and maybe some of those close plays would have been sacks because the receiver wouldn’t have gotten to spots so quickly.

The Cowboys have built a soft team that’s fun to watch when they win and impossible to watch when they play tough teams.

Good write up....you have to remember Jerry has long told the fan base...the Cowboys were never built to win with checkered tablecloth and the sawdust floors it was built to win on glitz and glamour.....its all about the money....now he wants his money and championship too and is lost on how to do it....the #1 problem is the Jones family....and it will always be that way.

True, but he’s taking longer to learn that than Landry did. Back when Dallas was labeled a finesse team and “next year’s champion,” Landry won SBs finally with Duane Thomas and Tony Dorsett. And even though the offense was still finesse, the defense was Doomsday. They were the dominant, smack you in the mouth defense that could dominate. I still maintain that the reason the Steelers dominated us in the 70’s was because both defenses were physical enough, but it was our finesse offense while Pittsburg was also a physical offense that made you stop a physical run game so they could unleash the deep passing game.

Why go all the way to Cali for training camp? San Antonio is closer. Why be all hollywood? When you don't win anything. All hat no cattle.

Precisely, thats what I believe McCarthy will be fired and I hope they bring in another Big Mike..... Mike Vabrel...need that mean and nastiness on defense again.

This thread should get 20 pages deep. It will be a shame if it doesn't. Because this is all it is in a nutshell. Anything else is just stats or hot takes. Which is where we are in society today, but your post cuts through all of it, and speaks truth to what is really the issue.

Tennessee wasn’t exactly the pinnacle of toughness.

You don’t have to be one of the best teams in the nfl to not get absolutely thrashed at home to the extent of 48-16 before garbage time hit
