This is how I see the draft going, not necessarily what I would do…

26- Steve Avila G TCU- Plug and play LG with a high ceiling. Big mauler that can move his feet surprisingly well to mirror in pass pro. Also can play OC if the need arises.

*Trade 58 & 212 for 68 & 108*
Denver doesn’t have a 1st or 2nd rd pick and a player they really like has fallen to 58 so they use 1 of their 2 3rds and a 4th to trade up with the Cowboys.

68- Jonathan Mingo WR Ole Miss- Big bodied WR with good hands and tough runner after the catch. Can play both slot and outside to pair with Ceedee long term.

90- Tank Bigsby RB Auburn- Tough runner that fights for yards and breaks tackles. Lacks the long speed to be elite, but will likely be a 4.5 YPC between the tackles grinder that also scores TD’s in the red zone.

108- Jacquelin Roy DT LSU- Hard nosed 1 tech that is more than a run stuffer, can shoot a gap and pressure the pocket. Uses good arm extension to keep blockers off him and make tackles on the RB.

129- Mekhi Garner CB LSU- Big long CB at 6’2 212 that plays with a physical toughness. May end up a S/the Kearse role, but I think Quinn will want to try him at CB with his length and ability to jam and play tough on WR’s at the LOS.

176- Dee Winters LB TCU- Undersized LB at 5’11 227 but plays much tougher and stronger in the box. Has 4.49 speed and good wrap up tackling to fly sideline to sideline attacking the ball carrier. Comfortable dropping back in zone.

244- Noah Gindorff TE North Dakota St- Big nasty in-line blocker at TE that I think we lack. Goes with McCarthy’s desire to run more.

Not bad ..........but I would go DB over WR, other than that, I'm in. Love Bigsby and Roy. I know some are saying 26 is too high for Avila or Torence but if either kid can be your day-one starter and won't make it to 58, who cares.

I hope not. Steve Avila at 26 would kill the hype for the rest of draft for me. If the plan is to just draft one of the guards, then try to trade back. Maybe KC wants to jump Bengals and Bills for a player.

I like both top two picks, but I feel both are taken too early as I feel better players will be available.

I am starting to get real concerned that the Cowboys will take Avila at 26. Slater, Belt, and Broaddus have been really pumping it on television and radio. The good news is last year they were pumping the two top guards throughout the draft process last season, so maybe the Cowboys are using them as decoys again.

I feel many people see a huge hole at LG and want to fill the need. We don't even know their plan as of yet, still could be Tyron at LT and Tyler at LG. Don't get me wrong, I like Avilia as a player, but he is more solid, then a special talent. Tony Pauline has him rated #66 on his board, he is one of the better insiders, that's 40 spots higher!! They must avoid reaching to fill a need. Even if he doesn't make it to 58, there will be other options after rd 1. Hell, even if they miss out altogether, the best fa Guard is still unsigned on the open market.

Was it really a decoy in terms of position? Tyler was drafted to be the LG and only played LT because Tyron got hurt in training camp. Not to mention the top 2 OG’s were taken ahead of the Cowboys anyway…

They tried to fill the spot with Connor Williams and McGovern, both chosen after round one. That's my concern........maybe they can pull it off by selecting a flexing OT. But they have failed the last two tries at it.

If they trade down to the end of the first and get an extra 3rd, I could tolerate Avila but there are plenty guard prospects that we could get at 58 or lower. I could see Avila being there at our 2nd pick. The Cowboys draft show is acting like Avila is a Martin type prospect. I have looked at tons of player right ups and he seems to be another 2nd round guard prospect like McGovern.
What has Pauline been up too. I remember really early in the draft process he said the Cowboys loved Tyron Smith back in the day. I miss his draft buzz report.

It is poor roster building if you have to keep drafting 1st rd lineman. I understand for a left tackle, but not for a Guard. I like both Torrence & Avilia, but neither look special to me. My expectation in the 1st rd is a future pro bowl player, which I don't see with either player. I know there will be better players on the board at 26.

You would probably have to trade with the Chiefs to get that extra 3rd as we are picking so late. Even if Avilia is gone, there will be other similar options to choose from. Hell, the Chiefs took Trey Smith two years ago in the 6th rd and he was a plug and play starter. Point is, finding quality Guards isn't that difficult and you don't need to reach to fill the need.

Yeah I think we will get Mafi and when Steele gets healthy, just move Tyler to guard. Best 5 like Stephen says.

OG O'Cyrus Torrence would be my pick @ 26 the only way he wouldn't if Robinson is setting there
