1. Dak Prescott - Somewhat a debatable call between him and Allen, and while everyone on this list is gonna be back next year except maybe Purdy - Dak simply doesn't wanna be stuck with the label of regular season jock with a playoff pedigree that doesn't match. Tho Peyton Manning had only 3 playoff wins until his 9th year so there's still hope, but Dak'll be roasted if he can't advance past the Niners regardless of the Manning comparison or not.
2. Josh Allen - Buffalo has expectations now, and while they might be able to live with losing to Mahomes - I don't think anybody in Orchard Park wants to lose Joe Burrow in the Divisional round. Not that Burrow is a bum, but it's just not where they imagined their season ending at. If turnover Josh shows up like he's sometimes known to, he stands a good chance of being roasted too. Besides, Buffalo isn't Dallas.... they could start to go off the rails once their roster declines where I think Dallas will always stay in the conversation as long as they're America's Team and McCarthy is coach.
3. Brock Purdy - People are just waiting to call him Matt Cassel, so his career isn't a surefire guarantee, and he's not guaranteed even another game if loses to Dallas. He won't be roasted as much as Shanahan, so I think his pressure is just moderate at best. Him and Hurts are nowhere near the pressure of Dak or Allen tho.
4. Jalen Hurts - Basically he has to save that 14-3 season. It'll depend on how he looks against the Giants, but Philly isn't gonna be happy at someone or another if they go 1 and done, tho Hurts is still just a 3rd year player.
5. Daniel Jones - Very little pressure. He's starting to change some minds in New York. He'll be back and he's gonna get paid tho probably not top dollars unless he can pull off the upset.
6. Joe Burrow - Minimal pressure. Cincinnati is a heartbroken franchise deflated by the Niners in the 80s, and Marvin Lewis' constant 1 and dones in the early 2010s with Dalton, but they're not a high expectation franchise. As long as those old scars are mended somewhat, coming short of shooting for the moon probably isn't that terrible for them.
7. Patrick Mahomes - Close to no pressure. Win this week, and he's the best QB in the league. Lose and he's the best QB in the league.
8. Trevor Lawrence - Pretty much zero. Win and he'll get an insane amount of praise. Lose and he'll still get mostly positive responses like "franchise QB in the making. wait for next year." So it's basically a one way street for him - helps that he plays for the franchise with the lowest expectations.
Thoughts?
