When I was 18 I bought this great custom van. It got about 2 mpg but I loved it, for obvious reasons. I then sold it for a newer Monte Carlo SS and regretted it ever since.

Well, I couldn't find any of the pictures of it to show my kids what a custom van was and lo and behold, I found my very van on the internet...

This thing had an octagon porthole you crawled through to get to the water bed in the back. This was great to take to Wildwood Beach in the summer.

Anyway, I was so jazzed about finding these pics from when we did the van shows, I had to share.

BTW, it was a 1976 Dodge Tradesman Van. It had a wrap around mural as you can see and was painted by famed muralist, Harold Harnish in Pennsylvania.

Pretty cool that you find it after all of those years.

It's funny when you think back about how cool they were back in the day in many areas. How you would get the reputation of having the Love Van or something if you had one.

But now days kids would look at it and think it was kind of goofy and in many cases creepy...like some killer or rapist owned one and was out looking for young kids to abduct.

One of my uncles had a custom van. Decent paint job on it (various stripes and such, nothing of the quality job like yours). Had the wall to wall plush carpet interior and a couple of heart shaped windows in the back. The captain chairs and the small game table in the back.

We thought it was so cool. Until they decide to take a bunch of us kids to black water falls on a trip...or maybe it was hawks nest. Either way there were site seeing areas in west virginia on the tops of mountains with some of the wickedest kiss your own backside turns. Just imagine a bunch of kids in the back of a ban with just small heart shaped windows in the back, none on the side...all excited to go on a trip and eating junk food and drinking coke or pepsi's galore.

Well by the time we all go there me and half of my cousins were car sick and did not enjoy it at all. I think that was the last time I thought that van was cool.:laugh2:

Ahh...good old childhood memories.

:laugh2: That's exactly what my kids think....they call 'em creeper vans, lol!

My dad had one when I was a kid. I loved riding around in that thing. He also had a VW bus that was also a fun ride. When you live in Texas and travel on vacation by road the vans were the way to go.

Looks like a serious party van CC. Plenty of good times I'll bet.

Had a Dodge panel van painted Cowboys blue and silver with Blue and silver carpet through out, even on the roof.
I was in the Permian Bass Club so used it to pull my boat to tournements.
As an added feature I installed a key pad and speaker to play Dixie,Charge, and like 100 other fight songs and such like. Can't buy them anymore.
Where have the good ole days gone.

So far you've found your dad in old war photos and now a long lost vehicle.

Unless you find Atlantis next I'm going to be mildly disappointed.
