If I were an owner or GM, I would interview Witten for head coach. He checks all the boxes for me as to what I want from a head coach.

Played the game at both college and pro level.
Motivates players.
Understands Xs and Os.
Knows what works and what doesn’t work.
Players look up to and respect.
Sees big picture.
Would sell tickets.
Good presence in press conferences.
Doing well at the HS level, I think.

Look how well Deion Sanders is doing.

I sure would hate to see him coaching an NFC East team other than the Cowboys.

I always thought Irvin would have been a great head coach. Unfortunately, he thought otherwise.

When you get to be a GM you can hire him.

Would you say the same thing about an ex player from another team like the Eagles or the Commanders? I doubt it.

Jason seems to be a great guy and all, but he hasn't proven anything well enough yet to entrust a massive investment that an owner makes when they purchase an NFL franchise.

IMO he would need to be a positional coach first in the NFL.

Dan Campbell did that route. Show up and coach in the NFL first at some level.
Was a TE coach, then Intern HC, then an assistant Coach for a bit before going to the Lions.

He is doing what he wants to do. He always said when he retired he wanted to coach HS. Now he is doing that and both his sons are on the team AND they just won the state championship.

High school and the pro level are two extremely different animals. I think Witten would need to spend a couple years as a college HC or take a position coach role in the NFL first. No chance he gets serious looks this year.

Young HC's need really strong coordinators. he's not experienced enough yet to really help young coordinators but with a solid team I can see him doing well.

I can't see an NFL team hiring a high school coach as a head coach. Maybe a college comes calling and he works his way back ro rhe NFL but don't see it happening now

Witten is currently a HS coach. Let him stay there.

It would be like the Colts hiring Jeff Saturday. Maybe one day Witten will grow into an NFL HC, but now ain't the time. Let him grow if that is his calling.
