This may not be a new idea .. I dunno. But, I have a feeling this two year extension is a ruse. I think Parcells and Jones BOTH know Bill is leaving after next season. That's why they didn't do the three year we kept hearing about. I think they only did the one year extension so there wouldn't be the distraction of having a coach in the last year of his contract. No one wants their team coached by a lame duck.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT all out to get you.

Well the popular theory is that Parcells stays on as consultant next year, probably to a reduced amount. I am guessing, he helps Jerry in Evaluation, Hiring HC and probably sounding board next year, if he doesn't retire as coaching.

I'm not going to disagree with you nor will I agree with you. I think at the end of next year if we are close then he will stay if we miss the playoff's again he's gone either fired or quits either way he's gone if we miss the playoffs.

They voided this year and added it to the other 2 - he signed a 3 year extension for 2005-2006-2007.

That is the same idea I threw out last night. I don't see BP at HC after the 2006 season.

It all depends on how we do next year. If we make it deep into the playoffs and come close to the SB he stays. If we do not make it or are one and done then he goes.
If we shock people and win it all next year he might stay and try and repeat- MAYBE. More likely he takes his 3rd ring and runs.

I think it all depends on next years progress as well. I mean this year we could've easily been 12-4 barring the injuries to Henry and Adams. Parcells knows he's built a team that will contend for years to come. He's too proud to walk away from what he's built and let someone else get the glory of the SB appearances and/or wins that will follow. I just keep hearing him say how much he "loves" this team which inclines me to believe he'll be around at least 2 years.

My theory is that if one of the coordinators leave, the other gets a pay raise and promotion ala Gregg Williams. And becomes the next HC-in-waiting.

BP is here to continue grooming them for the takeover, whenever he decides to leave.
