My Thoughts on what Bill Parcells is doing with Greg Ellis.

There are three factors in this.

Factor 1 said:
For one Greg Ellis wants to be sure if the Cowboys is going to assure him some insurance, just in case he's not successful in Bill Parcells new position which is the outside linebacker position.

From my thoughts I see what's going on both side here. Greg Ellis really doesn't care what position he plays as long as he's successful, but he want a raise for playing that new position that probably not even in his contract to play.

I could say 1 thing about Greg Ellis he's always been a team player, a motivator, and the Dallas Cowboys best pass-rusher for years now, Marcellus Wiley choked under competetion, Ekuban would've been good if Bill Parcells gave him a chance, but overall Greg Ellis has been very loyal to this organization, I know he's been injured sometimes, but he's a durable player.

Factor 2 said:
Another factor is Greg Ellis showed up to Training Camp because he's a team player, he wants to be there for his teammates, but he's unhappy that Cowboys won't assure him for a position that's not even in his contract. Greg Ellis probably show he could play that Defensive End in the 3-4 better than Canty.

I believe that Greg Ellis will get his deal with the Cowboys. Jerry Jones going to make sure Greg Ellis is happy, because Jerry Jones knows who is productive, if Greg Ellis is outplaying Canty like let's say the 3rd Game, Greg Elllis will be starting soon.

My real thoughts is: Let the best man win. I like Canty alot, he have nice size at 6-7 300, he very tough, and I have to say so far durable. He got hurt in one game, but came back to play the next play, and got a sack. I think that Jerry Jones probably has something to do with this pick, because the same year in 2002 when he drafted Quincy Carter, he could have actually took a chance on Shaun Rogers, who had a serious injury, and he might have been out for a season or a career, so Jerry Jones probably said he wasn't going to let that happen again.

Greg Ellis has been nothing but a Cowboys dominant pass-rusher but I still question why did the Cowboys pass up on Randy Moss?. Don't know. I just have nightmares at night about that draft. Just hearing Greg Ellis called. Looking at Randy Moss slip all the way down to a Cowboys nemesis the Vikingss. Now Randy Moss is underfeated against the Cowboys which we stuck with a crying Defensive End that can't score Randy Moss like touchdowns, he's a defensive player.

Imagine MICHAEL IRVIN AND RANDY MOSS AND TROY AIKMAN AND EMMITT SMITH. :fogeys: :dance2: <This would be the Cowboy Fans during Superbowl time for like 3 more years or more.

That hurts.

Factor 3 really doesn't even matter, as long as the Cowboys give Greg Ellis what he wants because they have made a committment to him by drafting him over Randy Moss, the Cowboys have to prove that this pick was better than Randy Moss in some way, you mean our Dynasty that was winning superbowls failed off because of a lousy draft pick?, but it doesn't even matter because we have something to tell Randy Moss and the NFL, "GET YA POPCORN READY CAUSE IT'S GOING TO BE A SHOW"- Terrell Owens.

Thanks Jerry Jones. I still wonder if Terrell Owens and Randy Moss coexist on a Cowboys team, will we ever know?:starspin :cunning: .

What's in Greg Ellis' contract is to play football, wherever the coach puts him.

My guess is that since Ellis wasn't very good at playing 3-4 DE last year and Ellis wants to be a 4-3 DE, Parcells figures that a move to 3-4 OLB is most similar to a 4-3 DE. While you're not in the 3 point stance, you're not lined up directly over the Offensive Tackle either. Like the 4-3 DE, the 3-4 OLB is usually lined up on the outside shoulder of the offensive tackle.

I don't expect Ellis to drop in coverage very often and they were going to use him as a pass rush specialist anyway. All this does is make him possibly more versatile since he can play 4-3 DE, Nickel DE, Nickel DT, 3-4 DE, and now 3-4 OLB.

Ellis can say what he wants, but it's obvious that he looks at the contract extension he signed back in 2003 as a mistake since months later teams like the Seahawks and Eagles greatly overpaid for guys like Wistrom and Kearse. He's getting a fair deal. It's not our fault that the Seahawks and Eagles screwed up.

1) I thought Canty won that job last year.
2) Ratliff will take some of the remaining snaps.
3) Carpenter was drafted in part to do what Ellis is being asked to do.
4) I still like Ellis over Moss, and pray he's the next McGinest out there. But Zimmer better slide some coverage his way or we're flocked.

GOOD POINT:bow: on 3 out of 4. The first one I can't justify that Canty beat Ellis out of his position. Greg Ellis was racking up on Sacks until Bill Parcells took him out.

Only reason why I think Bill Parcells did that because he said in his confrence yesterday that being a 270 pound Defensive End, it would really wear Ellis down, so basically Parcells is look out for Ellis could last longer in the game.

Canty was better at preventing penetration- holding up the O line- then Ellis was. BUT whether he was actually overall better is not clear.

Yes I must say clearly in the pass rushing area Greg Ellis is CLEARLY better than Canty. at stoping the run. I have to say Canty.
