NFL eyes will focus Saturday on end Allen Bailey and cornerback Harris (ESPN's Todd McShay calls both first-rounders), left tackle Orlando Franklin (projected second-rounder); linebacker Colin McCarthy (a possible third-rounder, McShay said) and receiver Leonard Hankerson (a second- or third-rounder, said the scout). All are seniors except Harris.
A second scout said he's most interested in watching running back Damien Berry: ``He could rise to the second round if he has an outstanding year. I like his power and speed.'' McShay had ``a fringe first-round grade on Graig Cooper prior to his injury, but he's obviously going to fall.'' And one NFL scout said DeMarcus Van Dyke ``has the size, speed, arm length to be a third-round pick, but he needs to come up with more plays.'' Buzz on some of them heading into Ohio State:
• Bailey had one tackle against Florida A&M after producing two or fewer in six games in 2009. He had seven sacks in his first eight games of '09, but none in his past six. But a pro scout who watched him Thursday was impressed (``he's going to be a good NFL player'') and Shannon said, ``Don't look at the stat sheets. He was very active.''
But Bailey, facing a lot of double teams, said low tackle games ``frustrate me. You feel like you can do so much more.'' One scout wants to see Bailey ``make a more consistent impact.'' Said ESPN's Desmond Howard: ``They talk about how Bailey can dominate, but until you do it against Ohio State or Pittsburgh, it's just talk.''
