I saw a story about upcoming FA Harris the Steeler being a possible off season target for Dallas regardless of a Dowdle return , 2 headed attack possible . Would much rather Dallas get a drafted rookie on a 4 yr initial deal then spend FA $$ on a back like Harris .

I think guys like Dowdle on O and OSA & Golston & Kendrick’s on D should command Jerry’s attention plus the draft rather then chumming the FA waters for cap eating deals .
Shame to see guys like Dowdle OSA and Golston start to progress then just let them fly out of here .

I know many on the board think they are Jags and not from Jacksonville either . Just more holes to fill if you let them go .

Either way they are filling the same hole. Whether they re-sign a Cowboys player or free agent. The Cowboys are so stingy in free agency but essentially make the same mistake just with their own players vs signing outside players.

I also actually prefer signing rbs at this time because the contracts are relatively low and using draft picks om higher priority positions because of the money. I look at the draft as essentially lottery tickets, but hitting on a running back isnt nearly as impactful as hitting on an edge, wr, etc. So all things being equal I’d rather draft at those priority positions because if I hit I’m getting cheap labor at a $20-$35 million dollar position vs a $10-$15 million dollar position.

As an example Aaron Jones who I thought Dallas should have pursued last off season cost 7 mill a relatively affordable amount .

However a FA RB does comes with NFL mileage built in as they approach late 20’s probably . A college back you can get have them for at least 4 yrs and a 3rd or 4th rounder on initial contract better value then higher FA salary built in .

The players i mentioned Osa Golston & Dowdle are all young enough and productive enough to want them back . Kendrick’s is over 30 but he seems to be right around every turnover the D produces and is good for the Liufau Parson types to have at LB .

So many RBs the Cowboys can go thru the draft and still sign a solid veteran post draft, however they should re-sign Rico to a 2yr deal. Cowboys should sign their own and UFAs, stop using the cap as a media shield to cover their flawed approach to building a roster.

Agree . Dowdle OSA and Golston should not break the bank . And draft a compliment back so an Elliott or a Dalvin Cook are not in the mix next season.

Dowdle is a running back so he may get like Zack Moss money.

Osa and Gholston though....that one is tricky. Defensive linemen can break the bank especially if they have stats to back them up.

Zack Moss $ is a good contract example maybe sign Dowdle 2 yrs 9-10 million total .

Only so much $ to go around if you can only get three back on the team next year on D Osa would be a priority followed by Lawson & Kendrick’s …Golston would be odd man out so Quinn signs him .

Yeah Lawson and Kendricks should be available for their bargain prices they like. Osa makes me nervous. He's a prime candidate to get overpaid by someone simply because they have the money to spend. Its what happened to Dorance Armstrong. And Osa is interior pressure too so that's gonna be tough. Cowboys should've gave him the Tyrone Crawford deal where he got paid probably a year or two too early. But at the same time Osa may have wanted this to play out like it has.

Sign Rico and draft Jeanty or Hampton, or Johnson, and add another back in the 5th round.
