in my opinion, #18 is too high for anyone at LB besides A.J. Hawk. It is too high for most of the other guys mentioned too.

Unless someone who's the best at his position falls to us unexpectedly, I think we'll trade down a bit and see what happens...at this point, I'm much more interested in FA.

If Dallas passes on Carpenter, I wouldn't be one bit surprised to see NE hustle up to the podium with his name on a card. Good fit there too. Their LB'ing corps is aging.

Carpenter pro day is March 9 (Thursday). Once we see how he works out, we should have a better idea where he goes.

I think he may run slow coming off an ankle injury.

Williams is a thought if he falls to #18
Justice is best RT fit for us if we do that at #18

Like TE in two - Like Pope/Klopfenstein more but not bad
Good stuff

I think that mock has Carpenter too high - I'm trying to poach him/Lawson/Wimbley in 2nd.

Pats also have glaring holes at FS/CB, Oline and WR

With Colvin, Vrabel set at OLB - I see them going ILB moreso round 2.
Once CBA announced McGinnest will also be restructured and kept at OLB-JMO

There you go rack - coming to the dark side and NT at #18. Now you have to add Davis at TE if he's still there. Ngata/Davis BPA and will be impact players albeit like Spears - a backup rotation guy to start season/career.

I remain adamant that Dallas will not draft a WR or Oline in the first round, at least not at the #18 spot. Both of those would have little impact THIS year, and this year is what they are playing for.

#18 - Ko Simpson, Jimmy Williams
#49 - Roger McIntosh, Leon Williams, or D'Qwell Jackson (should he fall that far...)

Any pair of those players would start or see heavy playing time right away.

Do ou think these lists would change if we based them on college production instead of "upside" or "athletic ability"?

I'd prefer to make this a little more complicated.
Scenario #1 (My preference):
  • Trade down for a late first and a third
  • Pick Lawson or McNeil in the first (I think one will still be there late)
  • Pick one on the following in the second because it's hard to say who will still be there (Bullocks, Allen, Whitner, Scott, or Simpson)
  • Pick the two best regardless of position in the third
Scenario #2
  • Stay at #18 and pick Jackson or Justice (assuming nobody drops A LOT)
