For those who missed the improtance of "working" actor/actress, you can't list "That one guy from that one movie" you really liked. Talking about people that were/are serious musicians and serious actors.

My Top 5:

1. Will Smith - Man can do a little bit of everything, and (to me), he's always entertaining. He also took the time to do the acting thing right. He can draw in crowds too, so obviously the studios love him but he's got to be the most experienced and successful of all these guys.

2. Mark Walberg - Although he'll punch you in the face if you call him Marky Mark, and his music was terrible, he's become a very good actor. I can't make him #1 cause I don't think his characters are all that diverse... and he seems like a jerk.

3. Jamie Foxx - Didn't really see him coming, he was a better comedian than musician up until his last album, wasn't really known for his music but it seems like he's dedicated to doing both music and acting now. As far as acting, he's so natural in front of the camera, and he also seems to dedicate himself fully to his roles and he's actually got a good voice.

4. Ice Cube - Look, outside of the Friday movies, I'm not a big fan of anything else Cube has done acting wise. But he was part of one of the most influential groups and period of hip-hop, and he's created a little media empire. He's acting, producing, writing, etc. so more power to him.

5. Tom Waits - Tom Waits is the type of guy that could play a characriture of himself in every film (and often does) and it would be interesting every time. He's known more for his music, and hasn't had any huge roles, but he always makes the most of his screen time.

What's your list?

Man, thats really hard.
1. Denzel Washington I just love everything the man puts out, I don't know why.
2. Mark Wahlberg
3. Ice Cube I really hate his acting besides Friday/Boyz-N-The Hood, but he's still repping my coast and he was in one of my favorite rap groups ever:D
4. Al Pacino C'mon, its Al Pacino.
5. Wu-Tang Clan One of the best Hip Hop Groups if not THE best group to come out in Hip Hop.
Honorable Mentions: Robert DeNiro, Madlib(Hip Hop Producer), Ben Stiller

I think he wants lists of people who are both actors/actresses AND recording artists. That narrows the field quite a bit.

Haha, no problem.

I'm still trying to figure out Christiann's list... I mean he's got musicians turned actors, just actors and a music group.

If you have Ice Cube and Will Smith on the list...how far down is LLCoolJ? He is not as well known in movies but he has done his fair share.

I don't know if you can add Ozzy, Gene Simmons or Brett Michaels as they are mostly known for reality shows. However Ozzy has did a few cameos in movies and Gene has done cameos and was actually a main character as a villian in one movie.

I can only think of a few people who've done both with any success. Elvis, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Roy Rogers, Reba McEntire, Dwight Yoakum, Queen Latifa, Tim McGraw.

Kevin Costner has a band now, and so does Kevin Bacon.

Waits is one of my favorite musicians. He really hasn't done much that excites me filmwise except for his work in Short Cuts which was fantastic. In fact, Altman shot the Waits scenes first and ended up showing them to all the other actors for inspiration.

I completely forgot about Dwight, despite liking his music and the crazies he plays on screen. I couldn't think of a single current that I really like, until you mentioned him.

I missed the working part in the thread title but since I see some on your list I would add Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton as there for some time they both were doing movies.

If you're going the actor who dabbles in music on the side. No love for Billy Bob Thorton? He's got an Academy Award.

So does Nic Cage, doesn't mean I want him on my list.
