NBCDFW Alper: If DeMarcus Ware Can't Get Right This Week, He May Never Get Right

I don't care what the stats say...he isn't playing as well this year so far.
Hope he turns it around.

I though it was a pretty good article, Ware needs to step his game up, Spencer also.
Pretty much.

No different than the legion of fans here who bash Colin Cowhurd for the way he downs the Cowboys.

Unfortunately, Cowhurd has been for the most part dead on about Dallas, Jerry Jones, and Wade Phillips.

Ware needs to stop playing pattycake and grab*** with these offensive tackles.

Does NBCDFW stand for "NBC Dumb ****ing Writer?"? Because I figured that in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, they'd get the Cowboys games-- and he'd watch some before reporting on it.

Otherwise, he's just the classic "Newspaper read-and-reporter". He wakes up on monday morning in his puffy pink slippers, wanders downstairs to pour himself a bowl of Lucky-Charms and pour his favorite glass of cranberry-orange juice, opens up the newspaper and sees "D. Ware: Tkl 4 Sack 0".

Viola.

:lmao: it's true but the way you typed it sounded so funny.

More evidence that journalism doesn't always attract the best and the brightest

No, sacks count as pressures (just like INTs count as PDs). Last year through four games, Ware had four sacks and two OTHER pressures. This year, he has no sacks and seven pressures.

The real question is, what is the average time it takes him to pressure the QB through four games this year vs last year.

He seems to be taking longer to get the QB.

Dallas got know pressure last year in the beginning of the season, with Ware getting plenty of clean up sacks. Remember, they fired Brian Stewart despite the 'numbers'. Then Wade took over and the 4-6 defense came in, and the pressurr started coming early and often.

I was half expecting you to blame Garrett for Ware. :D

Here are the contributing factors that I've noticed:

1) Ware is playing through an injury.
2) We play our defenders off the ball and teams are dinking and dunking.
3) Wade has toned down the blitzes because we got exposed early.

The pressure has been there from both Spencer and Ware but we just haven't gotten there quick enough. Since we play a soft zone more often than not teams have been taking the short stuff on us. Maybe the stat gurus can show us exactly how many more short vs long passes we give up, that will explain a lot of the problem right there..

I knew we shoulda drafted Merriman.

Wait, he doesn't have any sacks either. Well hell I guess they both suck.

He loses money with each mediocre game that he has....you know his agent is pissed.

I don't know why people keep saying that... He's more than proven, if Dallas won't pay him then 31 other teams surely will.

Every time Demarcus Ware is on the football field, the opposing quarterback is threatened.

Concussion + Neck Strain + Double/Triple Teams = difficulty getting to the QB.

But do not tell me the opposing quarterback isn't threatened. I guarantee you whomever is under center is sure to look and find #94 each and every single time they break the huddle.

And DoubleTrouble and landryscorner...remind me of this for some reason:

Have they ran a stunt for ware at all this year? If not they should. It gives defenses something to think about.

Also ware needs to use inside move more

I can say with about 99.9999999% certainty we have. He's just not playing well in the pass rush dept. QB's are making sure to know where he's at on every play and are stepping up just in time to avoid him from the outside.

IMO He needs a good counter-move for his speed rush.

I remember an article a year or so ago by KC Joyner I think...anyway it talked about pass rushing and broke down each sack by the league leaders. Ware had hands down the highest number of sacks by just pure speed rush, and Joyner mentioned that Ware needed to develop a pass rush repertoire and not just fall back on his speed rush.
