Okay so I started P90X with my fiance and I know some of you work out, well I'm looking for a protein/meal replacement bar that isn't sweetened with that artificial sugar crap that leaves that disgusting aftertaste. If they made one that tastes like a regular granola bar, that'd be great. I don't need fake peanut butter or any of that stuff, but it seems like they think everyone needs the bars to be sweet and artificially flavored/sweetened.

Right now it's torture for me to finish one of these bars because they taste so disgusting.

Any tips?

Much appreciated.

Have you tried Clif "Builder" bars? I do not have their ingredients in front of me, but they have 20g of protein per bar and not too much sugar. No artificial sweetner I think.

There are a few good recipes for some homeade protein bars that you can find on various bodybuilder forums. Most will involve added protein powder to peanut butter and oats or something like that.

EDIT: Just checked one and they do have some of that fake peanut buttery stuff on them.

I'm not sure how much protein bars usually have but the one i like is Clif Bar and it has 10g of protein. Its organic with no artificial additives. It tastes pretty good in my opion.

Cliff Bars are good.
Peanut butter & honey on whole wheat sandwiches are good for small meals too. High protein, natural sugars, good fat, great taste, and less expensive than buying boxes of protein bars.

This man knows what he speaks of.

Clif Builder Bars are great. They have a good amount of protein and they actually taste pretty good. I like the Mint Chocolate, the Peanut Butter, and the Lemon flavored ones. Lemon is probably my current favorite.

I sometimes eat the Pure Protein Chewy Chocolatechip bars. They are pretty good. I never just eat those though.

Like CowboyDan says, peanut butter is good (though honey is too sweet for me) I also just eat skinless low sodium turkey from the deli. I pick up about a pound a week and I eat about a 4th of it as a snack. Most of the time before I head to the gym if I go before eating dinner.

I'll give Cliff Bars a shot, thanks for all the recommendations guys. Really what I'm looking for is a meal replacement bar for the mornings when I can't grab breakfast.

I understand none of them taste great, I just don't like that artificially flavored/sweetened taste that many seem to have.

I use these. There are 3 or 4 different kinds at Walmart and I like them all well enough.

Tuna fish right outta the can.

It is a good way to load your belly with fiber and get lots of protein.

Either that or one of the drained tuna vacuum packets.

I like having power bars (nut naturals)bar. I also eat 1 percent cottage cheese with fruit as a post meal workout.
