OK guys help !.. the most important thing for me to overcome is being able to watch the Cowboys every Sunday. being from P.A I'm stuck with Phila and N.Y games most of the time....kill me now.
I'm in need of a new TV and seen this Firestick thing. It claims it will get all the NFL games? I take it I need a smart TV for this to work? or what's my other options?

I'm in NY and face the same Cowboys game challenges. The going rate is Smart TVs so I'd say you should get one regardless. With a Smart TV, you can just go to Reddit or other streaming sites and you're all set. I don't have a fire stick. You can also easily use your laptop (if that's what you have) and stream or HDMI to your TV.

that's what I use.....I'm able to browse the web right on the TV and there are endless links shared here where you can access the game. I started using Reddit last season and it worked like a charm. Great quality, no pop ups and many game access option.

You DO NOT NEED a Smart TV if you are using a Firestick or a Roku device. Old fashioned TV's will work as long as the connections are compatible. The Firestick is what connects to the Internet and all it lacks is a monitor which your TV will become once it is connected to one another. Also, buying a Firestick doesn't give you every NFL game. Unless they are giving away a 1 year deal to The NFL Sunday Ticket. But to have that you need Direct TV. However, having a laptop or computer that can go to a website such as this: https://www.vipboxtv.se/american-football-stream is how to watch NFL games. Make sure you have Ad Blocker installed on your browser (An ad in. You look it up on Google and download it and install it to your browser. It blocks pop up ads.) Make sure your Flash is up to date from the real Adobe website. To let your TV be the monitor from your computer likely would mean you having to get a Smart TV as they have HDMI connections.

Anyway, I have several big screen LED Smart TV's and none of them are good at browsing the Internet. One is decent but playing flash is not good at all. They are not intended to be used that way. I use it to mainly watch YouTube on its YT app. I hardly ever watch regular TV anymore.

I hope this helped you?

Solid coverage. Fire Stick does not have games itself as is. I reccomend getting Sunday Ticket To Go, can use the app for it or an XBOX.

Going the Stick route, you need extremely fast internet too.

I'm old too but I got a TV smarter than me. Every time I turn it on "Hi Stupid, what would you like to watch today?" pops up on the screen. I just assume it's not addressing me and tell it anyway.

These flat screen Smart TVs do not have good speakers, not enough room for them. I'd go with the sound bar but check them out first because some can sound distorted or tinny. I've got a Samsung with wireless woofer and it's plenty loud and has some cool settings for different things you might watch.

I spent the extra dough and got the Porn Moans and those happen even if there's no moaning on the screen. I special ordered the add on that moans my name but it's back ordered. Who in the hell knew there would be that many CouchCoach's?

Seriously, that sound bar is a necessity to me. I don't have great hearing, too many late nights with the headphones and too many rock shows, and the settings allow me to select the best one to hear dialogue pulled up from the ambient sounds. The Cinema setting is for the big score blockbusters and that will fill the room like surround sound. When I first got it, it was creeping me out because the sounds were coming from the sides and I was whipping my head around and checking that out. I don't know how they do that but I think my TV isn't the only thing smarter than me.

I have a 46'' Sony KDL-46XBR9 this is headed down to my new man cave. I do have a HDMI port on current putor its wired to my cable providers modem.(ARRIS). I haven't a WIFI router ether. I was torn between a stand or wall mount. I'm not sure how much room I would gain by a wall mount TV. I would still need a table or shelf for the Cable companies box (Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC) looking for a 52-60 inch (that's what she said) Sony. I have always had great luck with This brand.

Got it. The new Sony 4K TVs are actually pretty incredible. In fact, outside of the LG OLED sets the only tv I would consider at the moment is a Sony (I currently own a couple of Pioneer Elite plasmas I bought many years ago and a more recent 65 inch Panasonic plasma for main living room tv).

Here’s what I would suggest for your set up:

First off, wall mount the tv. It just looks cleaner and will give you more options for the console table you’ll need to buy regardless (based on what you wrote). Invest in a sound bar that’s good quality with separate (wireless) subwoofer (position the sub in corner of the room for nice full sound). Sony actually makes one that is nicely rated so, since your buying that model tv, your tv remote should be able to control the sound bar seamlessly...one less remote to worry about. You’ll be connecting the sound bar via the digital optical port on your tv so make sure u have that cable (most good sound bars come with).

Secondly, get yourself a good Wi-Fi router (highest speed available)and, if your football tv is a bit far from where he Wi-Fi router is (in other words, signal is an issue), get a network extender that you set up closer to the new tv. If signal strength is good there, then the extender may not be needed.

Thirdly, you’ve gotten some comments that recommend connecting your new set to a laptop of desktop PC...I agree with this rec. that fire stick stuff is klunky at best. If your current PC is relatively new and your don’t need it where it currently is (and it has Wi-Fi capability) you can set it up next to new set (under console?) and connect it directly with HDMI cable to one of the ports. The set will essentially serve as a monitor for the computer. If u don’t have already, I also recommend u invest in a wireless keyboard and mouse to operate the computer comfortablly at a distance (couch/coffee table). This is essentially the set up I have in my man cave.

Once that’s done, u can go to ANY of the available streaming sources for games (I prefer Reddit’s nfl streams) and stream the Boys on one of the HD feeds. As another post mentioned, make sure ur flash is updated from Adobe site and invest in Ad Blocker otherwise you’ll be barraged with pop-up ads.

Final tip: make sure to invest in good 4K/HDR compatible hdmi cable(s). Even if u don’t stream/watch 4K now, u will eventually and u don’t want to have cables that can’t handle down the road. Lastly, make sure your internet service speed is AT LEAST 100 mbps (mine is 250)...you’ll want this as you stream HD via Wi-Fi.

Hope that helps. Happy to give more detail as needed.

Thanks very much robbieruff and the rest of the crew. Your remote comment sold me. right now I have 4,when placed side by side next too each other the console on space shuttle is less complex.
I didn't realize, I never thought of the TV acting as a Monitor. awesome ideas. thanks everyone once again.
