Needs during the offseason

They signed Zeke and drafted no RB. That took care of the running game.
They signed Kendricks and a rotation of older DTs.

Saints had a hundred more yards of rushing than the cowboys.

This is what happens when you know what your team needs in the offseason but pretty much ignore it.

We filled them. We just did a horrible job of it. Cowboys know they can sign anyone rando and enough Cowboys fans will get drunk on the koolaide

Remember that year the WR group was so bad and they did nothing in the offseason to fix it? Then scrambled to trade for Amari Cooper midseason and turned the offense around? Same FO, same actions, same results, different year.

Not only did they sign two aging rotational DT's, they got them in here towards the end of camp. Neither Phillips or Joseph are in game shape and they are near the end of their careers anyway.

Very good drafting team. (Although we fail miserably when we draft for need.)

However, we have to be one of the worst teams at filling holes with effective FA's, if we even participate in free agency.

It's dumbfounding how the most valuable sports franchise on the face of the planet rummages through the bargain bin in free agency.

this was so blatantly obvious I was praying they had some Aaron Donald ace up their sleeve for how non-urgent they treated both of these. I wrote on here wait until we face a real running team, that will break this defense and it did. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it when it's this straight forward.

As for the running game I do worry about Solari's scheme as much as these players (which says a lot!).

100%. Who thought the Cowboys off-season was a success? Anyone?

So if we thought they did nothing in the off-season then why are we surprised by the result this week? The Saints did exactly what the Packers did but more efficiently.

The roster this year is worse than last years. Why do we expect the outcome will be the same or better?

This Cowboys team is going to get blown out 6 or 7 times this year. Jerry can say what he wants, but other teams are actually doing what Jerry claims he is trying to do. I am sticking to my prediction of 6-11. And I still think they will lose a game to Washington or NY before the season is over.

Look at the Cowboys backfield. Does anyone seriously believe they can run the ball effectively with Zeke, Deuce and Rico? And don't be surprised if Cook comes in and is better than all of them, but still not good enough.

And where is the pass rush coming from? Micah? And who else? Lawrence was never a big sack guy. Now we are counting an Lawson to come in and do something spectacular based on what?

It is going to be a long season followed by no post-season. Prepare yourselves.
