The Nets and Nuggets have a "tentative agreement" on a trade involving Carmelo Anthony, according to Nets beat writer Al Iannazzone, but New Jersey is waiting for assurance that Melo will sign an extension.

Mikhail Prokhorov is expected to meet with Carmelo on Friday or Saturday, and talks could obviously heat up fast depending upon what is said. In its latest form, the deal looks like this: "The Nets would get [Carmelo] Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Melvin Ely and Renaldo Balkman. In turn, the Nets would send Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh and four first-round picks to the Nuggets."

Ha! 4 first round picks? If I were Denver I would do that in a heartbeat. That would be complete and utter ownage. Denver would have eight first round picks over the next four years. The Nets wouldn't have anything except Melo and Billups who is getting old. :lmao2:

Four first rounders?? It's like Ivan Drago bought the Nets after his brain turned to mush.

Draft picks are definitely not valued as high in the NBA as they are in the NFL.

There are only a very select few college players that will make an impact in the NBA.

Draft picks will become more valuable as the NBA will place more restrictions on free agents when the new deal is done. BUT I like the move for the Nets. They will be in Brooklyn soon and what better than opening in the new stadium with a star; plus isnt he from Brooklyn?. Wonder if the knicks will step in, Either way I think he will sign with somebody before the deadline or he is going to lose alot of $

LOL. This is so ridiculous, Carmelo is such a prima dona...

The Knicks have reportedly upped their offer in the Carmelo Anthony trade fiasco to include Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Eddy Curry, and a first round pick to be acquired later for Anthony, Chauncey Billups, and what writer Marc Spears calls "fillers."

This is way more than Denver should be expecting, and New York probably won't budge from this offer at the end of the day. Because this offer is exponentially better than any actionable offer that Denver can get, or that Melo will contractually allow, look for things to start moving quickly. Separate reports have indicated that Melo should have an offer to consider by the end of the weekend, and Denver still needs to move other assets before the deadline. Reports that New Jersey had emerged as a potential or favored destination were laughable, but they may have created enough confusion out there for Knicks assets to still be traded. Once this domino falls, look for the rest of the league's trades to start following, so owners should start making their preemptive moves,

If this is true, New Jersey has no shot at getting Carmelo anymore. Denver is actually getting the better deal here IMO.
