Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has reportedly advised the team's management to "walk away" from a potential trade for Carmelo Anthony.

This bombshell could be the culmination of the deal's disintegration, after Melo refused to even meet with Nets' brass. Prokhorov said the deal has taken too much time and cost the Nets games, and added that it's his "final decision." New Jersey would undoubtedly still jump at Melo if the deal fell into their laps, but for now they might be forced to set their sights on next year's crop of free agents.

Prokhorov must be the biggest idiot on the planet. Melo said he wanted nothing to do with the Nets. Why did it take this long to figure out they weren't going to get Melo and if they DID some how get him, he was going to walk away from them after the Nets gave up so much to get him.

As soon as Melo said no, the Nets should have walked away. Idiots.

Especially how much they were going to have to give up...would have crippled that franchise for years.
