Wolf Pack football: Faith has shaped Kaepernick's career

Weighty decisions
Colin has garnered more attention from NFL scouts in recent weeks, and some websites have him as high as a third-round pick in April's draft.
He will get his chance. He believes he can be the player who can bust the stereotype that most running quarterbacks don't pan out in the NFL.
"Because of the way I've developed my passing since I've been here," he said when asked why he thinks he can break the mold. "I think this year I've really defined in my mind when I'm going to run and when I'm going to pass. In the past, I'd get into running mode and it was like, 'All right, I need to run.' Even on passing plays. This year I've separated the run and the pass. 'All right, it's a pass play, let me relax and stand in the pocket and make that throw.'"
He's also considering contacting his birth mother, who lives in Colorado and attended, without Colin's knowledge, Nevada's game at Colorado State in 2009. Teresa has communicated with her via e-mail.

.....

But the Kaepernicks aren't the only ones who have adopted Colin. All of Northern Nevada proudly considers him a member of its family now.
Maybe that's another word -- family -- from that same page in the dictionary that Colin would move to the front of the book.

"He's your All-American kid," Nevada athletic director Cary Groth said. "He's a young man that you're proud to take anywhere. He gets it. He understands what it means to attend a university, to get a degree and to be the star of the football team. I've seen him time after time after time, say, at a women's basketball game, he'll sign autographs and take pictures with kids and adults, and he smiles naturally. It never gets to his head."When you've got a kid like him, you've hit the jackpot. And I think we have plenty of them. It comes from Coach (Ault) and keeping him grounded. He's a special young man from a special family. We're blessed to have him at the University of Nevada. He'll be a part of our family for the rest of his life."

future of this kid ?

Look to what Webb did yesterday for Minnesota. Only this kid is faster than Webb.
