New Atlantic Storm to Watch

The models started off going through Florida up into the East Coast, but have pushed well west as the low trough has developed unexpectedly. The thing about the weather, is how completely unpredictable it is. Meteorologists have real time data from all over the place including satellite imaging across all spectrum of light, and they still miss major events changing things.

Spaghetti Models:

It's worthy to note that the absolute worst case scenario for Louisiana is a major hurricane, strong Cat 3 or better, going right up the Mississippi River basin. The results of that would make Katrina look like a light spring rain.

This might keep swinging west into Texas. Too many variables right now including having to pass over so much land mass.

This heat is so draining. Want something different in the weather. I hate Texas in July/August. Of course, I don't live on the coast, so I'm not at real risk for any damage.

I would just as soon the storm pass us by here in Houston. I can deal with the Texas heat and have my entire life but not to thrilled about prospect of losing power for a couple of weeks as I did after Ike.

If either the light blue or med blue lines are correct I'm going to have another mess outside to clean up. At least this year I have a generator that is easily hooked up to the power box so I won't have food spoil and can have the fans going.

It's not even August yet; going to be a bad one.

Had the upper level low across Texas not dropped down and developed as far as it did, this would be the third named storm of the season. There's another storm churning over the Bay of Campeche, moving inland over Mexico. A half of a day more over open water and it would have gained enough strength to be Bonnie. It was about )( that close to making it.

Gonna be a real bad year. I was shocked that the front half of July was actually quiet. I would be pleasantly surprised if we don't see 2 or 3 named storms at the same time in mid to late August like in this satellite composite shot:

That would be Mr. Gustav, Ms. Hanna, Mr. Ike, and Ms. Josephine, all unwelcome guests to the party.

Keep moving that thing east. As long as it don't hit deep east Texas I'm in good shape.

Thankfully there is enough wind shear over the Gulf to keep this storm from getting much stronger.

That and we have been getting rain everyday in Spring so we don't need any more.

What's worth watching now is the remnants of stuff down there around Jamaica. The models are picking up some kind of formation over the next 24-36 hours.

Bonnie may leave a child behind.
