I got another Boston terrier recently (his name is Boomer) from a local BT rescue.

I'm trying to train him to go potty #2 on command, so every time he does it independently, I yell "Go Eagles! Go Eagles! Yay, you DID Go eagles!" and then give him a treat. The idea is that he'll link that phrase to going potty #2, and in the future, when I tell him to "Go Eagles" he will. Hehehe!

I would have done Go Commanders, but my new father-in-law is a Commanders fan. Although we love rival teams, the one team we can all agree to hate on are the Eagles.

Little Boston Terrier? Great dogs. I am thinking of gettting one for myself once we move into our new home.

Little dog like that...would have been hard for me not to train him on..

Go Giants!

or

Go Jacobs!

Go Eli....Go Eli!

Good hygiene is important for dogs, so I'm sure your new father-in-law will understand.

I'm not sure if you're a new dog owner or not, but when you take your Bostons to the vet, don't forget to ask them to express their Snyder-glands for you. Otherwise, bacteria can build up which can lead to salary-cap hell. For the same reasons, you might want to wipe their Shanahans for them each time after they Go Eagles. It's just a thing good dog owners do.

I just tell my dog to go "fire a biscuit". She hasn't grasp what that means yet as I don't go out in the backyard with her every time to ingrain that into her. Being that I'm away from the house at least 12 hours a day with work and nobody else says it, she will probably never get it. :laugh2:

btw, Eagles, Commanders, Stealers, Giants. There is no difference. :)

I love how dogs will follow commands, whereas a cat will just drop a deuce on your pillow when you're not looking

Actually, getting your dog to "go" on command is pretty easy. I teach it to all my clients.

As far as your "go Eagles" cue, you have it backwards...you'll want to wait, wait, wait....and then, just when you see him squat, ONE time say "Go Eagles"

Then PAY him big time with a great food reward.

If you say it after he goes, he's not going to associate it as a cue.

Always remember ABC..."antecedent, behavior, consequence" when training.

Antecedent is "go eagles"
Behavior is taking a dump
Consequence is food reward.
