As a big fan of the original TV series (1968-80), I have high hopes that I'll enjoy this new Hawaii Five-0 series, which will be on CBS this fall. Based on this preview, they've dramatically changed the personalities of some of the characters, but kept the names. For example, Danno has gone from a very quiet, humble, respectful guy to a guy who back-talks McGarrett (at least in the first episode). And Kono Kalakaua is now a female.

There's no pleasing you old guys. So I doubt that you're going to like it, old guy.

So basically, they made a whole new show and are just using the old title and names to get people to watch it? :laugh2:

I really liked the old show. If they can make it interesting and not play the cheesy nostalgia angle, it could be a good show.

As long as they do not mess with the theme song, I will give the show a chance of winning me over. Beyond a shadow of doubt, that song is an America classic. It will be hard for them to beat the original series though.

But he's sticking it to The Man by not buying the same content twice!

Personally, I buy the idea that they're making a new show, but using the old name, mostly because they have no cojones, nor imagination. But hey, sometimes it works, ala Battlestar Galactica.

The original BSG sucked and was only on for one season.....yes I know they had another season but it doesn't count. :D
