New NFL Draftcountdown Mock Draft

Yuck, I sure wouldnt want those draft picks, to me jackson is a lot better, faster and bigger than holmes. Jason Allen is good, but he is moving up draft boards, will be gone before we pick in 2nd round. Spencer Havner is a big reach at 3rd round. Most draft mocks have him going at 5th round or so.

Give me Carpenter or Lawson over Holmes and Whitworth in the third.

Remember that word from valley ranch is that we are going to be taking the best players available, thats why we are filling our needs in free agency. I think it was Steven Jones that just said that was going to be the philosophy and that they have always had the most sucess taking best players and not trying to force need. I hope the best player happens to be Lawson or some other linebacker and eventually a nose tackle and free saftey, but don't be surprised if it happens to be a wr in the first. Also remember that frequently wr take a few years to develop and we have two guys over 30 and if we draft one now, he should be hitting stride right when we need him.

I wouldn't be upset about that draft. I hope they understand that we don't have a starting OLB on the roster right now. Also, if Allen slips to the 49th pick, then we hit the jack pot.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get excited about drafting a 180 pound Wide Reciever. I love Jason Allen, but I also believe he'll be long gone before we pick in the second.

We do have a starting OLB he's the guy who played well at the position last yr until he got hurt. He's not sexy by any means, but he's solid.

WE have at least 2 outside backers on the roster- Ware,Kalen Thornton (injured last year)

This is true, but we want some quality on the team. Maybe Burnett can do it, but it's a big risk.

I am amused by all of these fans who constantly talk about how much better Jackson is than Holems as a WR.

Prior to the combine Jackson was not even close to Holmes as far as who the better receiver was. Once people get Jackson's height, weight and forty time and now he is better than Holmes???

I dont like OSU or Florida so I dont have any bias either way but I watched at least 6 or 7 games for both of these teams last year. Holmes is MUCH better than Jackson.

Think if we are going to pick up a receiver in the draft, it will be in 2nd-3rd rounds. Someone like a Stoval from ND. Aplayer who can develop over the next year or so.
Not our top pick, who should be starting, ala OT or OLBer. Lots of options so really looking forward to the draft...

Stoval would be a coup in the second, Jason Allen would be too.

I think Holmes is a much better, more polished WR right now. He will develop into a very good #2 IMO. Plus he's pretty good returning punts. He reminds me a lot of TG. I think Jackson has the upside, by way of his size and speed, to eventually become a #1 WR. He may or may not ever do that but we know that Holmes will always be a #2 at best. I think that potential is the reason Jackson has risen.
Stoval could end up the best WR in the draft though too. 6'5...and pretty good speed.

I still find it hard to think that we'll get anything other than a LB or a trade down in the first round. Biggest need on the roster right now save FS, which is easily addressed in rounds 2-3.

according to this mock, Lawson isn't even a 1st rounder. If it appears this is going to happen, the Boys will definitely trade their pick and grab Lawson lower. I think Bill loves his speed and potential and Lawsons the target. They've invested too much in TO, they are not going to use their #1 on ANY wide receiver. Its OLB, OT, S and then WR - in that order. Get 2 #2s for their pick or do a julius jones and get one #2 and a #1 next year.
