After Ingram I don't see any 3-4 SOLBs that can start day one that will be better than Spencer.
UpShaw maybe but I need to see him do his drills. Same for Hightower at his pro day. But I don't see any big time players that can just come in a replace Spencer as an upgrade. I would rather keep Spencer and see if there is a play maker next year.

This Safety class is the same way. I would rather just sign Mike Adams to a one or two year deal and draft a play maker next year.

If DeCastro and Ingram are gone, I'm all for trading back even out of the 1st. If I can get a 2nd and a 1st next year I can still find a starting OG in the 2nd.
Now so people don't jump on me, I said only if DeCastro or Ingram aren't there at 14.

Next years draft will have two very interesting play making draft picks.
3-4 SOLB Jarvis Jones Georgia. He plays SOLB in a 3-4 now for Georgia and is a playmaker with 13.5 sacks.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/480493/jarvis-jones

Next year safety class looks pretty good to with Rambo and McDonald. But my favorite is Rambo FS from Georgia. Yes I'm a SEC homer but I hate Georgia being a Tennessee fan, but they have good players.
Rambo had 8 INTs with one TD.

We get our OL, DL, and CB problem fixed this year with stop gaps with Spencer and Adams at OLB and FS. Then next year in the draft you will have two firsts to get Jones and Rambo to solidify all our major needs and will have two more playmakers on the defense.

This team can't afford to look forward to next year. The team needs to win ASAP, 3 straight years without a playoff birth and big changes happen. The team isn't that far away either. When you are set at all the offensive skill positions and have a game changer on D you can't afford to wait. It really should be super bowl or bust.

Then what do you do at 14 if DeCastro and Ingram isn't there. You just draft a guy that isn't going to help you. Whats the difference in trading back then. You still get a draft pick this year maybe even 2 plus a first next year.

Sorry but I don't like any of these 1st round CBs, I don't see a safety that can help us. Ingram is the only upgrade IMO over Spencer. DeCastro is the only OG I would take at 14. I don't want to reach on a player just because you think Dallas needs to draft a first round player. If that player isn't going to be a hugh help whats the point.
Two first next year will give you that chance to get that top player int he draft that will help this team out the most. What if next year had a Von Miller, or Earl Thomas but we miss out again because our draft pick is to high. With two first you can package and get that player. This defense needs a big time playmaker and I don't see one at 14 this year.

I think Keuchly or Poe would help the Dallas D, big-time.

If DeCastro is gone then you look at Glenn, Brockers, or Poe. Day 1 starters that give this team what it needs, help in the trenches. Or you trade back and get more pcks for this year, not next year.

Poe would? Don't get lost in his combine numbers please. He couldn't even dominate at Memphis playing vs weak competition. He took many many plays off. If he couldn't be a force for Memphis and dominate that sad confrence then what will he do vs NFL OL?

Keuchly I like alot. But Dallas has said over and over again that they like Carter and expect him to play and start next year. What do you do, just put you 2nd round pick on the bench without a chance to start?

Brockers, sorry but he never impressed me in all of 11 LSU games I watched this year. At his size he could only bench 225 19 times. I can do more than that. There are some DBs that can do better. See the post above for what I think about Poe.

Glenn I like alot too but at 14 I wouldn't reach for when I can still get a day one starting OG in the 2nd.

All I'm saying is that there's no way Jerry is going to be ok with missing the playoffs for the 3rd straight year after building a billion $ stadium. It's super bowl or bust. If you feel Glenn is a reach then we trade down 4-6 spots and add a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Trading out of the 1st all together is not an option.

So you think Glenn by himself is going to put this team in the playoffs. Sorry to bust your bubble but thats not how the game is played. There are Gs in the 2nd that can start and play great. I like Glenn, I like him alot, you can find many many posts where I talk about him. But I'm sick of our defense not having any play makers and If I can't get one this year I would rather make sure I get one next year.

You call yourself an SEC homer and you don't mention THE best safety in college and my personal 2013 Pet Cat, Eric Reid from LSU?

Eric Reid really? Wow ok, I like him but he isn't a big playmaker. Not great in coverage.Good but not great. Isn't he more of a SS than a FS. He makes some big hits but not real great in coverage. He had great CBs playing in the secondary with him and only got 2 INTs. I'm looking more at FS and someone that is a playmaker.

But Ried is on my radar. I know who he is and he has a year to change my mind and jump up there.
Never know, the main point of this post was to let people see that there are player makers at the position this team really need in next years draft.

I feel he makes plenty of plays. He led an LSU defense full of NFL players in tackles.

Overall, I think 2013 will offer up 4 upper level safeties.

Eric Reid 76 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 INT, 5 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles.

Bacarri Rambo 55 tackles, 1 TFL, 8 INT, 8 passes defended, 0 forced fumbles.

TJ McDonald 67 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 3 INT, 5 passed defended, 0 forced fumbles.

Tony Jefferson, 74 tackles, 7.5 TFL, 4 INT, 3 passes defended, 1 forced fumble.

and Robert Lester. But Rambo is a playmaker. He flys around can sit back in zone and read the QB and make a play on the ball in the air. We need that. We don't need a safety that can lead the team in tackles. Reid is more of a in the box SS with great speed.

This team is more than one draft away from a championship . No need to make decisions that will help short term but hurt long term .

LSU uses Reid at Free Safety but lets him freelance (like Polamalu) and sneak up towards the line. He plays the deep ball well IMO and on most plays is the deepest man, furthest off the line of scrimmage.

Rambo is the only one (maybe Lester too) we mentioned who plays the traditional Free Safety position. USC lists TJ as a Free Safety but admits their terminology is different than 99% of the teams. Monte Kiffin defines the Free Safety as "free" to line up in various places and drops their Strong Safety into deep coverage. Oklahoma used Jefferson as a linebacker on most plays.

Rambo he plays deep and reads the QB and make plays on the ball. Rambo is more of a Eric Berry Earl Thomas type than the others. But we will have all year to discuss this ant I look forward to it. Rambo is what this team is missing.

Reid is a true SS in the NFL I think. But not the old ion the box type. I think he is the new type of SS. I wouldn't hate to have him too. But right now I'm a bigger Rambo fan.
