This from dc.com:

The NFL announced it has adjusted its injured reserve and practice rules for the upcoming 2022 season.

Teams can now make eight activations from IR and/or non-football injury/illness during the season, and players can return from those reserve lists a maximum of two times, which counts toward the eight limit.

Also, the league expanded practice squads to 16 players.

For the past two seasons during the COVID-19 pandemic, the league instituted unlimited IR activations, a three-game minimum IR stay and a 14-player practice squad.

Like the new larger practice squads.

More good news about the PS:

The players who can be added to this group are players who do not have an accrued season of NFL experience, free agents who were on the active list for fewer than nine regular-season games during their only accrued season or seasons, and a maximum of 10 free agents who have earned no more than two accrued seasons. Teams can also have a maximum of six veterans with an unlimited amount of accrued seasons on their practice squads, as long the players in the latter two categories don't exceed 10.

A practice squad player can be elevated for a maximum of three regular-season games in the same year and any number of postseason games without taking up a spot on the 53-man active roster. Last year it was just two.

I'm really pleased to be informed of those considerate adjustments to the practice squad rules. It's always good to hear of anything of this nature being implemented to make the jobs of these deserving players more bearable. The efforts and pains that these guys endure to earn a living should justly be treated with the most respect possible. Thanks for sharing this info. The practice squad players involved surely must appreciate it. :)

I would like to see a 5 player protected practice squad rule. If a team assigns a player to the protected list he can't be cut before next years camp so guaranteed 90 player camp roster for the following season.

I'm really happy about the IR rules. They used to be stupid strict. What was it at one time, 1, 2 players?

Great for teams
Bad for the players
Players would never agree to that

I think 2
The reality of the nfl today is players get injured so the new rule is really a smart decision and great for teams and players alike
One of the few rules on rosters that actually favor both
The player gets back to play and in many cases help their future earnings and the team gains a player they can use, rather than pay to watch

Also this year, the IR is minimum of 4 games, not 3 games to able eligible to return.
Not sure if the article covered that, but it is what I read last week, it was going to be.

They need to make a change to the game day rosters. All 53 should be allowed to be active. They won’t do it but they should.

They need to increase the active game day rosters for sure. But they claim competitive advantage as to having injured players not available and the opposing team having all 53 available.

They need to do 2 things, increase the roster to 55, and the active roster to 49 or 50. Or designate more as emergency players. Right now one of those must be an OL.

I’ve never bought their argument regarding competitive advantage. There’s always a competitive advantage between teams. Some rosters are better than others. That’s just the way it is. The last few spots on team rosters shows the smallest differences between players. Also, practice squad players exist to replace injured players (well, that’s one reason for them). I just think the NFL’s argument here has no substance.
