I would do it in a heartbeat.

We are now less than a week away from the 2021 NFL Draft and just like every other year, it is shaping up to have a ton of unexpected trades.

According to ESPN analytics expert Bill Barnwell, it would make sense for the Dallas Cowboys to be part in ne of those trades.

The Miami Dolphins own the No. 6 overall pick and would surely like to add a wide receiver to help second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. That high pick could be used to bring in an established WR to solve the issue.

In his all-trade NFL mock draft, Barnwell suggests that it could make sense for Dallas to send receiver Amari Cooper, the No. 10 overall pick, and a fourth-round pick to Miami in exchange for The No. 6 and No. 81 overall picks.

Both teams would benefit as the Cowboys would get some much needed cap relief and the Dolphins would have a No. 1 WR.

“The Cowboys have a quarterback starting a contract worth $40 million per season, and given how much they’re spending elsewhere on their core, something has got to give,” Barnwell writes. “Cooper has a cap hit of $22 million in each of the final four years on his deal, and they notably didn’t restructure his deal when they created cap space this offseason. They would be on the hook for only $8 million in dead money as part of a Cooper trade. Michael Gallup is a pending free agent after this season, and the Cowboys could very well see themselves using Cooper’s money on two players.”

Who do we pick at 6 that we cant get at 10? A QB? No thanks. A top WR no thanks. Pitts ...no thanks.. Im not trading draft capital for a TE. Surtain....no thanks ...Im not trading draft capital for a cb that we can match quite easily with Horn. Sewell....no thanks...not at 6.

This is not happening. Not only the cap charge, but he is by far the team's best receiver and go to target for Dak. If they decide to trade any receiver it's going to be Gallup.

makes zero sense

Trade Amari Cooper plus the 10th for the 6th?

So Amari Cooper, a 26 year old, 4 time pro bowl WR is only worth 4 spots in the draft?

Not a chance in hell.

I don’t even care about the later round draft picks getting moved. I’m not trading Cooper away unless it’s to add a premium pick.

I’d offer the dolphins the following trade

Cooper for pick #6

no negotiations, take it or leave it. That’s the beauty of shopping players you really don’t want to move. If someone gives you exactly what you want then great. And if they don’t that’s also great.

That smells like an overpay on our part. We give up our best WR and the 10th pick to move up 4 spots in the draft? The 4th rounder and 3rd rounders are just fluff on the end.

The difference from 6 to 10 is 300 points. The difference from 81 to 115 is 121. Dallas would be up 421 points based on picks. That makes Cooper worth pick 48. NO!

Maybe if they added pick 18 (and didn't do the 4th/3rd swap).

Right?! We gave up a first for him and he wasn't even on contract beyond the year.

what the heck!!! to move up 4 spots, give up your best WR and a 1st round pick and end up with a 3rd round pick. so in their opinion Cooper is worth a low second round pick (the 300 point difference in picks)!!!! really!!!

and btw, if the writer wanna be would have checked his facts, he would have noticed Dak's cap hit isn't 40M, its 22M.....and if he really put some thought behind it, he would have noticed that all NFL teams have cap issue in 2021...and further he would have noticed that it really doesn't offer cowboys cap relief because we would take a big penalty and in fact it would hurt us and if he really wanted to spend 5 minutes researching (google dude, google), he would have noticed we can get rid of Cooper next year with much less penalty or extend him if we wanted to and would have cap room to sign gallup if we wanted to...

who thought this was a good idea!!!! dumb....

ESPN is just trying to get readers. Absolutely stupid trade for both teams.

The only reason you would trade up to 6 and trade Cooper is because you are taking a receiver and that would have to be Pitts because Chase or Smith will be available at 10. But getting up to 6 does not guarantee Pitts will be there. If they move up to 6 to take Sewell, then why trade Cooper?

IF they somehow manage to get Pitts, then trading Cooper makes sense.
